Rebuilding opti spark?
My car rescently started leaking presumably out of the weep hole of the WP, it's been running rough and only getting worse (gambling opti is dying). For the fix I'm swapping to a CSR electric water pump, and apparently attempting to fix the opti situation at the same time. A buddy of mine mentioned a sort of "rebuild kit" so to speak for the distributor from Auto Zone. Said it comes with a optical sensor and whatever else needed for around 100 bucks. Anybody heard and/or done this? I'm trying to gauge what I'm jumping into prior.

He's is prolly speaking of the cap and button. Easliy changed. If it hasnt got to the cam sensor inside it wouldnt be a bad idea to change the cap and button. Ive been putting small amounts of dielectric grease back on the contacts to keep them from getting all that corosion mess back on them when you put it back together. Good luck.

The Accel Opti, due to the bearing setup, will be worse than the stock unit, but again, nobody has run it enough yet to tell.

with my stock opti and the MSD ignition and coil it lasted about 45K miles before it went.. it was still running strong when removed but has a slight stutter... so i went ahead and got it outta the way...
