Default LT1 alternator location, need some help...

I've almost got my engine done, except for the alternator. It's having some issues fitting in the stock position, because of the valve covers coming to a point instead of going straight across. I've been trying to get ahold of a company to get a relocation bracket so I can keep my accessories, but to no avail. I've seen some ppl use tall valve covers and just dremel a portion on the back of the alternator to get it to fit, which I was thinking of doing, getting new valve covers and doing that. The only issue I have is I think I need the pointed valve covers, possibly, because of how much lift the cam uses, .628-.634.

Am I just not thinking correctly, and the tall valve covers would work with the dremel idea, or do I need to find that relocation bracket?

Do you want to keep your Power stearing and ac? If you dont then SJM --> sells a bracket for you or you can modifiy your stock bracket to work. I have seen some tall valve covers on a lt1 but i think they did some grinding on the alt and the covers.

dood... if you are going to suggest a product you really really should post a link. Because with as many companys and **** that are out there, he (or I) would never find that bracket you are talking about.

Madman sells a alt relocation bracket. But im not sure what you have to get rid of to use it. I think only the AC, but don't quote me on that. You get it at http://www.thunderracing.com . Kinda pricy for what it is tho

yeah they are insane in price, but they can charge it because very few people make it.

best bet is to figure out your own bracket.

Well, part of the problem is these AFR LT4 heads I have are modified to be perimeter bolt pattern, because of the rocker guide type thing on the heads themselves. The only valve covers I can use will be perimeter, so I think I can find some that angle down on the front and back, that i've seen in summit, and just dremel the alternator. I'll have to check and see this week to see how they will work.
