ok my car is a 94 and im looking through the haynes manual today and i think that it very well could be the fuel pump relay, from what i see in the wiring diagram the relay goes to the pcm ign fuse, the relay also goes to the ses light and some other things that have not been working.... any thoughts

fixed it, none of us were right. The connection for the in tank fuel pump thats actually in the tank(the plug on the underside) was actually very lose.

now for whatever reason the car will run great, but my breaks are squishy and i cannot get the key to turn to the off position so i can get the key out. ANy sugg on this one

well none of us were right cuz according to your description you were saying that it wont turn over... so thats with the starter issue... not a pump... didnt you change the ign cylinder??? and did you put the tumblers in it right?

actually in my description i said the car wouldnt turn over along with the fuel system wouldnt work, when that connection was bad in the tank with the fp, it also shuts down the starter and kills the pcm ign fuse.

no i did not replace the ign cylinder, just the igni switch on top. I replaced the neutral safety switch but then put the old one back in.

oh ok, you may have to go back in and make sure everything clears the cylinder. when you did the switch, did you mess with the cylinder at all, and when done did the key come out?

um no i didnt mess with the cylinder at all, but when i did the acutal switch i didnt have the key in the ignition, i went off of the shbox instructions and it didnt say i had to have that in there. So now im kinda worried and lost.

But when i was done and i tested it all of the positions worked and they key came out. After i found out that that wasnt the issue i went ahead and tried the neutral safety switch. (Stupid me for not testing )

yea, now if the key isnt coming all the way out check to make sure that the nuetral safety switch is still working, cuz if the ign swith thinks its still in gear the key wont come out... just something to check and play with...

yea, jsut play with it and see if anything changes... if im not mistaken i pretty sure on the steering column, there is a metal rod, that controls the lock on the key... check it as well and see what happens...

i had the same prob in my 96 ws6, manual, if everything turns on and u turn the key and nothing happens then it could be your clutch engage switch, thats what my problem was and i changed the starter motor just before. If you have an A4 good luck, but i just recently had this problem and thats what mine was... good luck

Unfort the weather here is crappy lastnight and today so i dont know if ill be able to tear it back apart. Keep the sugg coming though i need something to look for

yeah well id be very happy if i WAS back on the road, read up a little and youll see my new issue, i cannot get the key to go to the off position so i can get it out. and also ive discovered that when im shifting the car will go through all of the gears past neutral to reverse without having to hit push the button. What the hell is going on with this thing????!!!???? is the neutral safety switch misaligned or what?

Since you're in Flint, MI, just drive it to Detroit and drive it through GM's gates and pull it into the assembly line and tell them you have a prob. -b
