I went supercharger route over turbo but only because I got a good deal on a vortech kit. People these days are making great power with the STS turbo kits, they're very nice, effective systems. However I think superchargers tend to run a little more than turbo systems, if you have the money, I'd opt for a nice Vortech S trim or an ATI system. If you have any other questions, PM me.

Something with great low end torque needs a S/C, because it spins with the motor. A Turbo uses exhaust gases and spools up more as the RPMS go up.
Of course both are tunable and can be changed around some, but I would get the LT1 all new forged parts to handle the boost, then Procharge about 9 LBs on her!

i would go wiht turbo if i was you. You adjust boost on the fly, and it is cheaper to upgrade the main unit. Turbo will always make more power on the correct setup.
turbo and supercharger cost abotu the same when you factor in certain things. Like with a turbo you have a full exhaust and everything because that is what the turbo runs off of. So add exhaust in to the supercharger equation to level the playing field.
You will probly spend more on the turbo setup in the end. but you will be much more happy with it i think.

j/k But yea, you are right.
1. turbo set up will cost more.
2. on the same boost level (say 6 psi) you will hit full boost at a lower rpm with turbo setups with the right size of turbo giving you better midrange touque and hp. (3000 vs. 6000)
3. with the turbo you can adjust the boost on the fly.
4. supercharers sound bad *** though, althoug some prefer the turbos spool and blow off.
5. supercharers are much more simple to set up than turbos. (excluding sts)
6. boost costs more than what you plan, so figure a bit more in. in some cases a lot more.
what would I prefere after having both, turbo comes out on top. even though my s/c would launch harder than my turbo because I have no two step, but I am still quicker with my turbo setup.

nitrous is the best bang for the buck, if that's what you're asking. As for turbo or blower, both are worth the money. Both have their unique strengths and weaknesses.

Its all about the tuning, and where your settings are.
You can have alot of boost and/or N20, but if youre tuned to not push limits, it should be ok.
Some guys on here have pushed the limits and have been perfectly fine, others had it happen vice versa, where something like a faulty install or improper plug caused detonation.
IMO, I would re-do the engine completly and install forged internals, then put on the S/C
