Who here has a 1993 and use Scanmaster? I wonder why they dont list it for 93-97?

i know all about datamaster etc. Those are not scanmasters. I have a laptop for data logging but nothing compares to having the scanmaster. It's a great product. Anyways, can anyone explain why it wont work? Just saying it wont doesnt cut it because it's baffling me.

That is true. the computers are different. I thought OBD1 was OBD1 though. Mabey I just need to accept the fact I wont be able to use the best investment Ive ever made. Does Freescan work with 93's?

Its just a little scanner, looks like a small radar detector, tells you codes and a bunch of other things.

i dont understand why just run with the datamaster.. i know its more of a hassle to have the laptop in the car.. but you get alot more feedback from it... and better data... the only thing that is nice about the scanmaster is the compact size..

You might try giving Ion at MadZ28 a call and see if he has any spare 94 or 95 PCM's lying around that he can convert to speed density for you so you can have the best of both worlds. I bought a speed density converted 95 PCM with the full programming meal deal from him outright for $180.

I think youre missing the point of what makes scanmaster such a great tool. It's small and compact and gives you a ton of feedback. It's no Datamaster but that's not it's purpose. If for the guy who constantly needs to monitor the things that dont show up on the cluster. It was one of those things that helped me see issues before they became big. Datamaster is great but theyre two different worlds, apples to oranges.

The two computers arent interchangeable without swapping wiring harness.

Correct 93's are not OBD1. They are just a speed density program built with bank to bank injector drivers (batch fire). You can call it Pre-OBD1.

Intresting. Learn something new everyday. I want to convert to OBD1 then but I'm sure besides the computer I would also need a wiring harness and lord knows what other little stuff.
