This is still fuel injected. 50# injectors and a 90mm T-body.

Port Pros drilled the intake on this one but can do it either way. The best way is to weld up and drill the heads for the intake.

What PCM is it using? And how did you get the intake to fit the heads?

Thanks

I'll answer for him since I'm doing the same motor. The manifold on Tony's fits by using a spacer to change the bolt angle into the heads since the angle differs into the LT1 heads versus standard SBC... So port pros used spacers and drilled the manifold where there were no holes to line up with the heads... I believe there are two holes that do not line up and the manifold has to be drilled...

On mine we aren't doing spacers we are just going to drill the heads for the holes on the intake and make spacers for the holes that do line up to change the bolt angle...

And tony has FAST XFI..... And I do as well..... for any serious solid roller LT1 with the size heads and cam we are going to run 7200RPM shutdown for the stock PCM ain't gonna work since we will probably shift these motors at 7600+....

Alright that makes sense. One more question, how is that distributor mounted on an LT1 block?

The LT1 block still has the provision for a rear top mount distributer. From stock it has the oil pump drive in that hole. You just remove the oil pump drive gear asy and slide in the distributer from the top of the intake.

An oil pump drive stub under the intake. Has a gear just like a real distributer that runs off the cam. Drives the shaft for the oil pump.

That engine looks amazingly like my setup, probably cause i'm using mostly the same parts. I'm using the LT4 intake instead of the type you are there, but the heads and rockers are exactly the same, with a 396 4-bolt LT1 block. I hope I can get some good numbers as well, especially with the huge cam that i'm running.

Tony can you expound on this setup????? Did you have to buy a different cam or more like what did you need to buy extra to make that work???? thankx.. cause i could have sworn that the hole down there had a plastic drop in gear that dropped into that hole..... On the underside of that the oil pump driveshaft dropped in once lined up and bolted to oil pump (more like sandwiched between the two) and was driven.... so wouldn't the bottom of the distributor drive the oil pump driveshaft and the gear on the cam is driving both of them (or at least the dist which in turn drives the oil pump???) I'm confused now...

Yes the distributer will drive the oil pump shaft. And yes the stock oil pump drive is a plastic stub with a gear on it

So is there anything different about the distributor your using compared to a distributor on any cabuerated car? Or is that a distributor specifically for this type of application on an LT1?

It is a standard sbc distributer. Only thing different is I ordered a low profile one so it will fit under the cowl panel.
