Headlight upgrade.......
Well... seems like it might be a problem... but I am kind of confused.....
Went and bought a set of Sylvania Silverstar headlights for my 1994 Trans Am.... I installed them but they look just like the stockies, I went back and returned them, came back with a set of cool blue headlights.... same thing, those looked again like the stockies.... so... can anybody give me a hint of whats wrong??? Doesn't seem like a ground problem, since stock ones work great... I was just looking to get a light that would look a little more updated... anyone had a situation similar like mine? I am now running the stock headlights...... Part number shown on catalog is: H4666

I see your point..... but, shouldn't I see a difference in brightness on Silverstar and Cool Blue from stockies????? All I am saying is that both looked like stock lights, no blueish-white light effect!! I can call BS on the claims for "brighter", "close to HID" on both........

because the sylvania cool blue and silverstar headlights have the exact same lumen output as your stock bulbs. they show a brighter color (kelvin) white, but are basically no better than stock. an 80 and 100 watt bulb would be an improvement, but not sure how well your F-body headlight wiring harness is. I know the B-cars cant even handle the stock bulbs let alone aftermarket ones.
Also sticking an HID bulb more specifically an HID conversion bulb (since ones that fit halogen lamps are just rebased bulbs) in a halogen lamp is a bad idea IMO. you're throwing a light source in a housing not meant for it. You're going to end up throwing light all over the road, especially into oncoming traffic. But what do I KNow :0

A true HID conversion will run you at least $1400, becuase they need a special power supply.
I would run 90/130 H4 bulbs but to do that you need to use a relay with power drawn directly from the battery - your stock wiring will not handle that amount of current.
Are you trying to see better or look cooler? Very different goals. Some of the 'coolest' looks turn out to be obnoxious to other drivers and attract the cops.

In the b-bodies wiring upgrades are GREAT can't imagine the f-body got much better wiring. Worry about getting the most from your current bulbs before you worry about replacing them. Trying to put brighter bulbs in without wiring is like camming without intake and exhaust.
