Default Advice needed on EGR removal.....

What are the advantages of removing the EGR valve on a '94 LT1? Steps involved in doing so? Any sponsors carry the block off plates?

there are no advantages. The only reason to do it is if your EGR system is rendered inoperable by exhaust modification. It doesn't gain you any HP and will actually make you run very slightly more lean.

Cleans up the engine bay A LOT! Take AIR, EGR out and itl look much less cluttered.

www.sjmmanufacturing.com has the EGR plates.

to be honest i think you actually loose gas mileage.... by 2-3 MPG.... but it does look alot cleaner... and most people do it cuz the their EGR's have failed... so its an easy fix...

It will throw a ses light. I had both my EGR & AIR systems tuned out.....

And yes, it does clean up the engine bay ALOT ....... I'm happy with the sh*t gone.

I have got mine removed and got it tuned to run without it, and the gas mileage actually went up. I think the tuning played a major factor, but it is running good and strong. Also it doesn't heat the back of the Intake up and cause that nice little oil leak..

I agree with the " cleans the bay " post and the " if you tune it to ignore / mean tune " it can equal the MPG if it doesen`t beat it, that and you start the whole shave every oz you can wile having one less thing to fail.
