Not really. I think it's wrong to justify doing something we know is dangerous and wrong. Doesnt matter if it's a open road, late at night, or whatever. It dangerous and wrong because anything can happen on a publc street. When I was younger I had my Mustand supercharged and would open it up on long strtches of open Texas roads. Now I look back and wonder what's the point. Ive yet to do it again with any of my cars because theres just no reason to. Top speed means didly for most cars today when you think about. Top speed doesnt win races, its just mostly for bragging.

well when you got 140 at the strip the same thing can happen :p i have only done it once, the most i take it to now is 110 on the interstate when i need to make up some time. everyone does it once, most find it pointless later on! kind of like street racing.

Admittedly, I WAS VERY STUPID!!!! But, being young and showing off in front of friends, sometimes you learn the hard way. I definately learned. I am just SOOOO lucky the car did not flip. With no seatbelts, that could have been very bad.

a few years ago i had a 93 z a4.going home from work 3:30-4:00am 2 lane hwy started racing a street bike.i look over he looks over we nail it(forgot to metion this guy nailed it and rode a wheelie until i hit about 120mph)he was 2 cars or more ahead of me cant remember.the last time i looked at the speedo it was right above 150mph i thought the car was going to shut down held it for 10 to 15 more seconds after i looked down.now the good part saw taillights up ahead a good ways up a head moved over behind bike.next thing i know he starts hitting his brakes so i hit mine not stopping to good.so i move over to the other lane still trying to stop thats when i see that im about to rear end a STATE TROOPER.i slowed the car down to like 35mph right on his *** he never stoped just kept cruising.hows that for a close call

260 km/h and the digital speedo didn`t go more me and my friend in his car 1993 vette auto stock but don`t remember if the intake filter was removed at that time or not because we did to race a friends 94 t/a (just bought it at that time and from the filter don`t thing the other things are in better shape fuel filter and spark wires and plugs) fastest I got ever in any car I drove (it`s a shame ....... I dream of a 400+ km/h and want to know how fast I can go before a chicken if I ever do ....... and hey .... it`s a dream!)

Exclamation

A few years ago with my old set up (355, 12 psi, T-56, 4.10 gear, 500 rwhp), I had the needle pegged while playing with and old guy with a pony tail on a crotch rocket (built 1100). I was right on his rear tire and I couldn't pass him since the road started to get a little curvy and I said, "That's it, I'm done." So I let off and my buddy in the passenger seat counted 15 seconds before the needle started moving back. It's probably fair to assume that I was going at least 175 mph. About a mile down the road on the other side, I saw a Geo Metro pulled over. I am assuming that he got pulled over for a head light that was out. It was a wild ride with the tops off and the windows down. Probably lost some speed that way. I was shaking when I got out of the car about 5 minutes later and said to my buddy, "Man, was that dumb. I'll never do that again."

4 open lanes highway, 2 in the morning, no cars for like 20 minutes at a time...i prolly went over 160...my stuff read 150+ and the RPMS were at like 4500 RPMS while going over 150, afterwards i went almost to red. So i imagine that i went nearly 165. I will NEVER do that again. Its stupid and unsafe.
