Default Hey guys, need advice on a 6lb powerdyne for a 97lt1 auto camaro

Theres a import shop up here working on one and frankly they don't do many v8s if any and im good friends with them and some guy gave them money to make his car faster. Im gonna go check out the car this week, all i know its a powerdyne 6lb kit and supposed to run on stock internals. Any pointers what the car needs to run right and such? Anything they have to buy, injectors, fuel pump? What about tuning and such? thanks!

Mike

PS i felt like saying, oh great powerdyne, not a great supercharger, but i doubt they will return the kit.

The car is a automatic with a built transmission and a tq converter with headers/exhaust.

6 lbs would be my personal limit on an LT1 without forged internals. He should have at the minimum an FMU, inline fuel pump, and slightly larger injectors, maybe 30#. Doing it right would require a custom PCM tune and dumping the FMU.

No FMU. Just get the right injectors, fuel pump and a tune.

No offense, but I hope your friends were honest about their lack of knowledge before they took the persons money.

Best advice? Sell the powerdyne before the internal belt strips

They are good at what they do, but dont have much experience on the lt1 cars. Obivously for the 12k, the guy couldve gotten a stroker done somewhere else, but thats what happens when your an idiot buyer.

Limit would be 6lb for stock LT-1
Powerdyne are not crap, however, they have a limited power potential.
At that level, he should go with 42lb injectors and ditch the FMU........this all can be done if it is tuned afterwards.

We gave up on them about 7 years ago because if you put the 6Psi Pully on them with in six months you got to pay a very large fee to have them rebuilt. All the people I know that had them(over a dozen back then) sold them after the last rebuild and got Vortec's, ATI's or went back to N/A with a broken budget

Agreed... powerdynes are garbage. Don't even waste your time. Just sell it and try to make a profit.
