Either way you made the right choice on intakes from all I've researched. This new Edelbrock intake doesn't look outwardly to appear much better than an LT4.
Well maybe i'm a lil under i have no idea.. My guy said.. Get me a intake.. so that's what i did.. I trust he'll do the right thing.. and it'll be worth every penny that i spend on it..

he actually told me to go either super vic, or a HVH designed brodix. it came down to height for me.. the brodix was 7.1" vs the SV 5.9 i'll take all the clearance i can get..

I hear ya Bro! I ditched the stock hood for a VFN 3" SS hood, it's freaking light, about 14 lbs vs 52 stock and has plenty of clearance for anything crazy I come up with. I've been considering a big 4 barrell TB vs this ASM Mono I just bought, at this point I'm trying to budget for the FAST pcm so I can ditch the 02's and run race fuel without eating up the 02s.

I know of a 521rwhp NA 383 LT1 on stock engine management and that is through an A4 and 9", a "street ported" intake hell it was even done MAF.
Heads are even just LT1 GM castings "small" valves(2.00/1.56), sub .650 lift.
more info

There is also an Impala in OH putting down 480rwhp through an A4 with owner built 383 and owner ported LT1 aluminum heads and LT1 intake 246/250 .613/.620 109 Comp solid roller. Most of those who knock the LT1 intake are those who haven't really tried working with it.
I wont claim these are normal results and both run 8" ATI nonlockup converters which offer less rotating mass and BIG stall speeds. Thing is these are just two more guys proving what so many of you believe is wrong.

In that case I would expect your AI top end to be making 530+rwhp, after all, it should make more than a car with homeported heads. What did you dyno?

I read 96caprice's post and thought: "who posted this, looks like a familar style." Sure enough, exactly who I thought it was.

i don't think any of us believe the LT1 is a horrible intake.. We all have the L98's for that... I could have dumped a few hundred into making my Ltx manifold.. But given the plenum area and runner size it won't fit my 245cc RR's w/o excess modification.. And my head porter said it like this.. "why try to re-invent the wheel"... So i'll take his advice, before i take a long shot and try to make it work.. and use what he said to use.. So given the results you just posted.. There should be no problem w/ me making well over 530RWHP through a m6...

I'm using a Accel Gen VII w/ WB02's.. The motor will be tuned on a water brake prior to goin in the car.. That way if there are any issue's they can be addressed w/o yankin' the motor.. Oh and i'll be burning up they're 02's i'm a try to do a pump gas tune w/ minimal timing just to lope around on the street.. then do a jet fuel setup... and ring this motha out..

I have spoken to the guy with the 480rwhp home built and ported setup and he has nothing but good to say about my setup. He is more intelligent than most and understands the difference between my 100K stock shortblock daily driver and his lightweight solid roller strip warrior.

I have not dynoed my car most guys agree though it is near 400rwhp. This summer with ZERO track tricks it has gone 12.5-9 105-7mph depending on the startingline and weather raceweight with me and an empty trunk is about 4250lbs. It is not a strip car it is a daily driver I happen to race and some weekends tow a fishing boat , over 5K on the heads/cam setup since I got it back up and running late april.

I offered the notes about the b-body guy to support the credibility of the other car and show what can be done if people just try a little rather than write things off just because they are based on stock parts.

(Just so you know, I've been 10.5's with unported LT1 head and intake castings at 3200 lbs running IHRA Stock Eliminator.)

What was your setup that you ran 10.5's with?? PM me if you like..Just curious. Think that'd be kinda hard with unported heads....

What yoiu are missing is this is a CLASS racing with some very strict rules on what can be done. As has been covered already it is unported heads and intake, I am fairly sure displacement changes are limited to rebuild level overbores nothing extreme the cams are stock lift duration will be a tad bit higher .
Their power is not extreme either but the chassis is setup to use every bit they make. These are race cars ans I am sure you would not enjoy street time in one.

It is hard. It took me years to get to that level. Hopefully, the new car will be a little faster.

so a basic conclusion would be that an aftermarket intake is not gonna do you any good unless you have some serios moddage, like everything else, oh one more question i saw this ram air intake manifold a while back in jegs i think, i looked nothing like the stocker had a real big top and the runners rouned underneath it, wut about that thing, any one know wut im talkin about?
