Um because like i said, my 98 was a freak.... stock she put down 340/350 to the wheels and ran low 13's with the 6-speed

this subject is really beat to death. happens every couple of weeks.

bottom line it's a money game.

You want to go really cheap, step into an LT1. Then you'll have the fun of saying "It's an LT1" then everyone laughs then you rape them.

You want to go more expensive but be able to say "Yeah it's an LS1" and everyone's scared.. get an overpriced LS1.

Base cost of an LS1? $12k in my area for a decent one. Cost of an LT1? $4k usually for the cheap ones. I bought mine for $5500 with 53k on the clock.

It's a money game.

My buddies thirdgen camaro with heads/cam would rape most LS1s around here, and he doesn't have **** into it. The chassis was dirt cheap and the motor even cheaper.

It's all about money money money. Both motors will perform the same if they have equal flowing heads and same sized cams. Displacement determines potential - there's nothing magical about an LS1.

I have an LT1 with Stock Heads and bottom end. Mods and time are in the sig. It runs down the LS1's around here with no problems. I was thinking of switching to a LS1, but the LT1 I have is doing the job very well for what's in it. Total invested in mods since I got it stock was about $4k, and that includes the Rims, Suspension, and other minor things.

Thanks. It has to be the Tune combined with the light Chassis. It kicks the crap out of alot of cars around here.

315 hp to the wheels is 12's for an LT1.

And since we are talking about the LS1 motor, this little LT1 at the track had no problem taking out the stock LS6 that was out there that night. He was driving it damn good, but couldn't pull in the 12.7's. He got 12.83 as his fastest. Now the one with the Cam, Headers, and the Tune got me. I would hope so for the fact that he spent almost $2500 on that alone.

LOL stock ls1s run 12's with 290-300/300-320 stock, something wrong with the dyno. If its such a freak why are you still running factory times?

I traded off my SS wheels for some stock wheels +cash and those were the tires that were on them. Since the car isnt finished being set-up I did't bothe rto change them.... I raced in the dead heat on Fla. sumer as well. So all the little varible add up, I thought it was decent times for that set-up.

the whole thing that makes an LS1 better is the heads there better than LT1 heads any way u put it,a ported LS1 head will flow more than a LT1 head ported, the heads make the power. If u have and LS1 and an LT1 and u stick 8 grand into each the LS1 will be faster. The prices are about the same to mod each car I don't see how people say it's cheeper to mod an LT1 than an LS1. If i stuck the money that i stuck into my LT1 into an LS1 I would probably have at least 50 more RWHP. I'm not puting down the LT1 but thats the truth.

Explain to me how if the heads are flowing the same, the motors have the same displacement and the cam the same size HOW the LS1 will make more power? Easy, it won't.

The reason LT1s are cheaper is because they're less than half the price to BUY than an LS1, and mods are alot cheaper as well. Hell I bought my LTs and Y-pipe for $410 out the door.. cant do that with an LS1.

Nonetheless when it really comes down to it, whoever has more cash is going to win.

Thats saying you paid the same for each car.

LS1's are about double the money of an LT1, with both car's being in good shape.

Considering that the LS1 has basically shorty headers, a much better flowing head, and other little things, it has a head start. Which is ok, its newer and thats the way it goes.

To even out the playing field, you need to unchoke the LT1, which is almost full bolt ons.
The stock intake, headers and exhaust are all very restrictive on an LT1. ( What the hell was the donkey **** thing for anyways on the intake? )

Yes mod for mod the LS1 is faster, so what?
For the money I saved buying an LT1, I could buy an Le1 Package, gears, and Stall and still have 2K left over for visual.

and BTW, i think Catfish's are ugly ( just MHO), the interior's are too plain and generic, and the T/A has a cheap feel to it I just don't like.
Not only that, you can buy an LS2 for $5000.00 shipped to your door.
LS1's are old and in the past now, just like the LT1.

The playing field is level.
