i went through this sort of ordeal back in the late 80's but it was mustangs against camaros we whooped some and got whooped on,then the Lt1 came out it was 1/2 sec. faster and those boys looked down on us as if we were now inferior F-bodies did not have to do much fighting from 93-98 cause ford took a major sh8t but now they are coming up again.all i am saying here is we are really on the same side of the battle field can we just get along like the TEAM WE ARE!

Youre 100% correct. Ive been saying the same thing for the longest. LT1 owners sound just like the import owners when they brag that thier car was cheap and the money saved went to mods. Half the time that's not even true. Most people buy what they can afford. Not very many people save up for a 2002 Z28 then buy a 93 Z28 and use the saving to mod the motor just to be able to keep up with the 02.
Another thing I hate hearing is well If you do this that and the other to the LT1 it will be even or beat a stock LS1. That's retarded. Then last but not least the looks. People swear that the only reason the bought a LT1 was because the LS1 was ugly. Yeah okk.
Instead of making excuses for why we have a LT1 why not just except that it is what it is and enjoy what we have. Theres always something out there bigger and better. Who knows, in a couple of years GM might make something better than the LSX series. By then all the LT1 owners will have a LS1 and will still be trying to justify themselves.

Good point and really who cares if stock for stock an LS1 is about 3 tenths give or take faster, unless you bought your car strickly for race then oh well its not like a stock LT1 is slow its just not as fast as an LS1 stock, If your gonna buy a car just to race and say your the fastes by an old monza tub it out and throw a 572 in it. Other than that just enjoy what you have and enjoy the competition between the LS1 vs LT1.

People have reasons, yes.

I personaly like the LT1 over the LS1. Ls1 is better built bla bla, but there are little to no fast LT1s anymore, people give up.

Like i said before, you get into it deep with both LTx LSx and your going to be hauling *****.

so just for fun lets through the gen 1 heads in the argument. would a LT1 have more potential than a LS1 if the LT1 had gen 1 heads. i'm just trying to bring up the fact that the LT1 can use gen 1 heads. I personaly would just like to hear some more talk about this topic. i think here would be a great place to talk about it.

I was my understanding that the Gen1 heads will NOT work on LT1 due to the reverse water cooling and the coolant passgaes in general.

Yup that's true. Saw a thread on it a while ago elsewhere. Wasnt that expensive either. You could even go with 18degree heads also with the right rotational parts and doe.

I admit that I don't know anything about generation 1 heads so I will be interested to see some of the responses here. But I do know this:

Worlds fastest LT1 went 8.08 @ 174.

Worlds fastest LS1 went 6.86 @ 205.

If the LT1 had more potential through any available means then why are these numbers not reversed?

Yes i am for sure that the gen 1 heads will work on an LT1. I will be using gen 1 heads (brodix) on my new 383. but you do have to do some work to them to get them to work. with the reverse flow.

yep, there was a sponser here that posted a thread about doing it. It cost some bucks, but you could use a real nasty SBC head.

the reason why the ls1 has the fastest time at the trap is probably bc they spent more money on it!

Well I clicked on this thread thinking I was going to see abunch of people fighting about which was better.

Now here is my opinion, LT1s are better, because I own one.
Seriously, if you get LT1 to have as good heads and intake as the LS1 guys offer, then you are in business.
But the LT1 is cheaper to mod, has possibly more longevity because of the iron block.

Oh yea my LT1 has 4 bolt mains from the factory Thank you Jesus, so some did come with them.

Last night I got to ride in a C6 Z-51(?) and all I can say is wow. It changed my very definition on what a car should be like. It's so well mannered and brutal at the same time. The C6 is what God was working on on the 7th day. I cant say I have any reason to ever go out and get a LSX as long as my LT1 still can getturr dunn but if I did it would be a C6.

For most people youre right Hunter.

I test drove a 98 LS1 with 70K miles, and ended up liking the LT1 I chose more. It had more to do with the engine, the LS1 Camaro is ugly IMO, and it did inturn defered me from wanting one.

Plus the fact Ive grown up wanting a Black LT1.

I didn't feel like spending all my money on a car, so I bought a bike too.
My point is, I did have the funds to afford a pretty damn nice car, but I bought what I wanted.
Sorry if you think thats bogus, don't know what else to tell you.
