Default TDC posistion for timing chain and cam.

What cyclinder do you guys usually put at TDC when changing cams. 1 or 6. I know on reassembly you line up the dots to put it back in place I was just wondering which is best or if it even matters.

If when changing cams the dots are at 6 and 12 the pin will be at 3 o'clock, because that's when #6 is firing. One turn of the crank will put the cam gear dot at 12 o'clock and cam pin at 9.
Putting #1 in the firing position is helpfull to some when setting valves. Then they can go thru the firing order, 18436572. If you start at #6 you can go 65721843. Doesn't really matter as long as you have it straight in your head.

You have to specify which ones you can do, as far as Intake and Exhaust. I have the list in the car, which is currently at the shop all apart.
The Cam dot at 6:00 position will make #1 TDC.

Nope, cam dot at 6 and crank dot at 12 the opti will be firing #6 cylinder. #1 will be on the top of the exhaust stroke.
