I've had my 160* Hypertech in for about 4 years now. I pulled it out a couple of months ago for an EWP install. While I had it out I tested it and it seemed to be opening a little slower and at a higher temp then it should have been. When it's in the system under heat and pressure it may be right on though. I may replace it just to be sure. I would not hesitate to buy another Hypertech.

Here's my 4 year old "Hypertech" thermostat. Notice the Motorad stamped into it.

I've ran the Hypertech for a total of 4 years or so and it has worked good for me.

I have ran several different 160* stats over the last 9 years and I recently switched to a factory 180*. The car runs cooler than it ever did with any of the 160*s I used.

I just picked up an Autozone "Duralast" 160 deg. thermostat for $15 - It's stamped "Motorad"... Save the money you'd waste on a $30 SLP or $26 Hypertech, it's the same thing!!!

Is this a 160 deg for a reverse cooling LT1? I've been looking local but most just sell the 180 deg LT1 stats. Failsafe also? I'f so I'm heading to autozone.

I'm not sure about failsafe (It does look identical to the picture above), according to Autozone it's a "stock replacement, alternative temperature" thermostat. But if it's a Motorad, same as all the high priced ones, I can't see that it wouldn't be. There's no way they would make two separate ones.
