Default Distrubuter Conversion.. Help

Before I go and order all this just want to make sure it will work. A Edelbrock Vicker JR Inktake. SO i will not need to modifty intake for disturbuter. Then all i need is a low profile distrubuter. Would my current coil and Accel 300+ ign system work with a regular distrubter?

I know i cant spell distrubuter for crap.

Believe he wants to go with a SBC style distributor (on top of the engine vs on the front)...

Wow... this thread is going no where... There are several guys who have switched from the Opti to a traditional Distributor, I dont know what everything it consists of but I believe modifying the intake is a normal part (but the original poster said he doesnt need to modify his)...

I would have thought someone with experience on this would have chimed in by now... Whats up with all the new guys on here lately? (nothing against them, or maybe the old timers are taking a break)...

Armyman2445-
Yes you can use your existing coil and ignition box, you'd have to mount your coil and ign module closer to the back of the motor though, which means extending wires.

My buddy did his with an Accel dual sync distributor, but he's running DFI gen7... A similar sized or smaller distributor would work for you as that one barely clears the wire boots under the cowl.

Only thing is, you'd have to go to aftermarket engine management to do it, because the opti not only routes spark, but also tells your pcm when to fire the spark and injectors via the 'wheel' and optical sensor inside. Without the opti, your not gonna get anywhere with the stock pcm.
