You can build a bulletproof 10 bolt...I've done it. yes it will probably cost more than a comparable 12 bolt, but it looks factory, and no one will know it isn't stock.

you CAN run a spool on the street and it won't be bad. i have a 9-inch rear in a blazer with a spool since my posi kept breakin.... the blazer has a 383 with a 150 shot on it and it is my drag car, but even when i drive it on the street with a set of MT e/t streets it is ok around turns. the only time the rear churps is when you are in a parking lot. but with street tires its not bad.

the first time it rains and you take a turn you could be in a ditch.

I drove my car with a full spool in the rain one time and will never do it any more' thr car would not turn. I would not put one in a DD car, but I would in a weekend only ride.

I'd love to hear how exactly you did this, machine all custom parts from some exotic alloy?

The diff isnt the weakest link in the stock 10 bolt, its the ring and pinion. Axles arnt very strong either.

i say a set of moser axles, girdle and weld the axle tubes and it be pretty decent for a a4 car. m6 cars can just kiss any chance of a 10 bolt lasting. Theres people out there running them on a m6 but there just playin russian rouliet.

A spool in a 10 bolt would snap the axles like toothpicks around town. The axles just arent strong enough for the jolts they'll get from turning with a spool.

31 spline isnt much stronger than the stock 28.

you would need 40 spline or the max that moser/strange has for a full spool and M6.

Where from??? All I have been able to find are mini spools, and I was thinking about trying it out since I had a spare 10 bolt anyway, and would much rather have a lighter full spool then the mini...

Throw away the 10 bolt and get a 12 bolt conversion, that is what I am going to do as soon as I start seriously modding my TA,
Strange makes a really nice one, so does Moser

35 spline would be plenty, 33 might even be enough. 40 splines are what like supercomp guys run
