I am sure that everyone has seen my thread.. this is the closest that I have gotten it in the Factory position. It still didn't clear the stock Camaro Hood. You guys with the Fire Birds have it easier with them Hoods.

I've seen your thread Merve, I just wanted to see what this guy has done... there is another thread on here where someone did some cutting to the Rad support, and Fabed up some stuff... here is the link..https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ht=ls1+lt1+lid... This is more along the lines of what I would do. The path to the lid seem straiter

I think the most impressive thing about that particular install was the fact that he was able to still use the stock hood. I almost went that route but I don't like the idea of cutting all the metal up front. I went the route of the Ultra Z. Same concept just takes the air from up top instead of the bottom.

I did the mod, one of the first few to do the mod. ONLY maybe a 5hp difference over the Lt1 CAI. Its not worth the money or letting your engine bay looks go to crap.

Let the ls1 lid conversion die already, Taner's LT1 runs low 9's with a K&N CAI, i'm pretty sure thats good enough for your 11,12, and 13 second cars.

did you have to shave the lower part of the box for the hood to close?

No I bought the ultra Z hood and the airbox kit for it. However looking at the box and this LS1 conversion it it possible that the hood would fit.

Would it work on a stock LT1 Trans Am hood without having to butcher it?

I'd do the conversion even like Merv did, if it would fit under a sunoco hood. If I had to cut a bunch of stuff and move my radiator back and stuff, not interested.

I know I had a few different versions of it, but now I am on the final setup with that pic. I kept the Radiator in the stock location, just cut out the front of it a little bit, and the shroud.

Yeah thats not bad, its a little lower now right also?? I kinda want a sunoco hood down the road, if I get one of those and can fit it under I wouldn't mind doing it.

Yea, it will definately fit with the Sunoco Hood. It's just barely not clearing the Stock Hood. I put the Cowl on mine to cover it up.

Yeah, you've got to get that "mini cowl" off. That thing looks silly. Just my $.02
