LT1 LS1 Airlid Conversion
I just like the looks of it more (less tubing/pipes) and its a hell of a lot easier to clean/change the filter. Even if it was no better or worse performance wise than CAI, it still has those two advantages I just mentioned.
As for the guy thats trying to figure out how to shut his hood... haha.. get a new hood that works or else you will have to hack up your rad support like the others. I'm still wanting to know about the sunoco hood. Sounds like its not a winner from the one or two people that responded to my other post about it. the Ultra-Z hood DOES indeed work but, I'm not so sure about the looks of that hood. I've heard the big harwood (spelling) hood will fit the LS1 lid too.

The reason the LT1 did not have a K&N type CAI from the factory is warranty claims from dumb asses running through standing water and sucking it up, the same reason an LS1 doesnt. Thats why it stopped underhood.
People still TO THIS DAY kill engines in LT1's with a CAI running them through water....do a search on CZ28.com.

im in the middle of doing this right now. im boxing in the top support and the filter base will be part of a fabed up new radiator support. it will be all one piece.
the reason i did this is im also working on a lt1 intake that will be pretty much all new from the base up and will be 1-2" taller and i dont feel like hacking up the ss air box to make it all fit.

Same here, Casper. I could see ONLY gains by doing this. Shorter path for the incoming air, into the intake, more of a direct shot right into the motor.
BTW, what is your engine setup, anyway?
