F-Body and Corvettes are as such. Caprice, Roadmasters, and Impalas have iron heads.

yeah, from my experience the LT1 has more low end grunt, pulls strong everywhere. But the LS1 just pulls harder and harder the higher you rev it, something the LT1 can't come close to. Stock to stock

my lt1 always felt like i would pull harder than my ls1, but then i'd line them up and my wife would fly past me in my ls1 , i put the ls1 on the dyno and with a lid only it pulled 333tq

Well, why not drink the bong water?....
But seriously, the figures given in this thread are single point numbers. What needs to be done is an across the board comparison.
Overall, the LS1 dominates the LT1 (bastiches).
But I have heard that the LT1 has better LOW END torque than the LS1. When I have raced them at the track, I have taken them on the low end. Perhaps they were just spinning?
Can't wait until I race one against my turbo...

For some odd reason my 95 LT1 Caprices feels a little quicker and Torquier off the line than my LS1 Camaro!

The LT1 builds peak torque by 2400 rpm according to GM High-Tech in a stock to stock comparison.

Well, I was having opti issues after 4000 RPM at the time. But, up to that it went something like this :

2200 = 225tq
2500 = 245tq
3000 = 260tq
3500 = 275tq
4000 = 300tq
4500+ = craziness

Here's the dyno graph:

Same here, at the local 8th track i can beat LS1 camaro's through the traps in my caprice ,they have quicker times, but they play catch up the whole time and can't quite catch me. I do have a 6-speed with 4.56 gears that get me moving a lot quicker. I don't know much about camaro's other than their engines, so i'm just curious if the gearing is different between the lt1 and ls1 models to make the LT1 FEEL faster down low and get going.

From the 93-97 F-body and the 92-96 Y-body(vette's) they all came from GM with aluminum cylinder heads. The only cast iron head LT1's were the Caprice's and the Impala SS. The cast iron heads out flow the aluminum heads on the intake side and the exhaust from the aluminum heads out flow the cast iron heads. I have never heard of a "HO" LT1 motor. The higher output engines came in the Carmaro SS, Firebird WS6, and the Firehawk's (LT4 engine rather than a LT1).
