That was before all the things listed in that post you quoted.

I was thinking about a 2500, with a Tranny Cooler, and the Transgo Shift Kit put in the Tranny at the same time. I was told that it is good to have it built for that Stall while it is out of the Car..
I am getting MT Drag Radials on it also before I hit the Track.

The LS1 doesn't peak that low but it still has more torque than the LT1....

Each has their own unique characteristics. The LS1 is the newer technology, so of course it is going to be faster(you would hope so). That is like the difference when the LT1 came out, and it was against the Tuned-Port 350 at the time.
The LT1 though has that nice deep roar that the LS1 doesn't have, and it's a true 350 C.I.D.

If we look at the number, the ls1 win without a doubt...

but...

The feeling is not the same. The lt1 as is peak torque sooner than a ls1.

The thing thats make us think that the lt1 got more torque is the feeling that this engine give. This engine feel really ruff compare to an ls1 wich seems to much civilise to my taste.

They lsx base are stronger(hp and tq),faster(stock vs stock) but i dont care.I ve driven tested the 2 bases(lsx/ltx) 2 years ago and call me crazy but even with less power i choose the lt1 and dont worry here the money eas not an issue.

And now with the saving money i do my best to boost this last sbc style real 350 baby and kick some lsx ***.

The Reason the LT1 peaks so soon on torque is because of head flow plain and simple, heck you put a set of ported heads on a stock LT1 and it would perform like a stock LS1.

When you look at the LS1 head cc numbers it is deceiving because the runners IN the head are shorter than on an LT1, so the 170 CC LT1 compared to the 200CC LS1 is rediculous, it would be like the LT1s stock 170 CCs compared to a 210 CC LT1 head.
does the intake runner length has an affect on the tq curve too since LTx's have short runners and LSx's have long ones... -but so did the L98's which tq peaks at the lowest rpm

The L98 also redlined in the low 5,000 area, it had no power after that. My friend has one. The LSX's have a different design, so that could be it. Newer technology..

No matter how you cut it, even though LT1s feel tough off the line, you better pack a lunch because unless you take them very VERY badly off the line, those lS1s are coming to getcha! I felt the pain all too many times.

Yea, they do have that catch up, and it will suprise you. I pulled my friends LS6 Vette(with LT's, Drag Radials, and a Programmer) 3 carlengths off the line, and he shifted and was up my ***. But he stayed there all the way till 125mph, couldn't pull that little LT1..

Well mine has changed a bit since I last posted. I managed to build a Wiring Harness to drop in a LSX Engine. I sold the LT1 that is in it, and I have started building my new project. I didn't go with a LS1, I got something in plan that will toast someone with a LS1..

Under this is a 6.6l 402ci LS2 Ironblock Stroker, it will have the L92 Heads on it, they have been milled .025 for 66cc Chambers to get 10.7:1 Compression, L76 Intake with LS2 Fuel Injection System, the Cam is a TSP MS3 specs: 237/242, .603/.609, 112LSA, and a Yank SS3600 Stall.
It will be nasty and still look good cause it's a LT1 body style.
Instead of running close to the LS1, why not beat the ever living **** out of them..

It's not hard to do, my Hotcam setup was killin them all the time. The LT1 Aftermarket is what kills the performance capabilities of that Engine, stuff is crazy expensive.
I just figured that if I can get in a LS2, then I'll be able to get in what comes out after the LS7..that and I spent nothing on this compared to what I would have spent on a LT1 to get the same power I am about to have.

I have an L98 out of the 90 or 91 corvette, rated at 250 hp, 350 tq, that is in my 91 z28. It feels fast as hell just driving around normal, but at higher RPMs it just doesn't cut it. Not that it's slow or anything it just doesn't have what an Ls1 has.

I've driven an Auto LT1 and it felt like a combination of an L98 and LS1. Felt like an L98 at lower rpms, and ...a slower version of an ls1 at higher rpms.

Thanks bro..I think it was the weight, cause the LT1 was very basic. Just the Heads Port-matched and Milled, and the Hotcam Kit. It was Balanced, but it was all stock 350ci spec.
This new Engine is what I decided to go all out with, so might as well do it with somethin nasty..It's going to be one hell of a sleeper..

The main thing is the design with the LSX Heads. The SBC/LTX lowends are more than capable of some high RPM's, the Heads are where it is limiting it. Comparing them, it's 23* LTX/SBC Heads vs. 18* LSX Heads. Then you add in bigger Valves, Ports, Chambers, you get some good power. I plan on running my 402 close to 7000 RPM's with the Cam I want, it's just how it's designed. It's coming off the line at about 3400RPM with the Stall, and it will pull stupid strong up to 6500RPM easily.
These are the L92 Heads I am using.. they flow better than 95% of the Aftermarket LSX Heads. These are the best on the market right now, and go with the L76 or LS7 Intake only.
Valves: 2.16" INT/ 1.59" EXH, 66cc Chamber
Flow: 325/210CFM's, 4.000 Bore @ .600 lift.

This is an old post I found, but this genius was wrong. The LT1 does produce more torque than the LS1 around 2400 rpms. However the LS1 is the superior engine.Produces more peak TQ and HP than the LT1 combined with insane top end power.
