Default LT1 Plugs & Wires

I know this has been discussed, probably more than a few times, but I was wondering what all have to be done before changing the spark plug wires, on my lt1, I have never changed them yet and was wondering should I try myself or would some of you, recommend I take it to a shop? anyways, I will appreciate any advice. Thanks

Driver side easy. passenger side PITA at least the first time. After you do it a few times it gets better.

Yeah, instead of needing to go to the ER, you can get by with just two boxes of band aids...

I have mine routed underneath. It really depends on your headers (IMO) on how you approach. Don't use the factory routing on the pass side, just come out of the opti and go immediately behind the bracket (between the bracket and the engine block). Do not try to route wires behind the power steering pump in the factory loom. I promise you will curse a thousand words, pull your hair out, throw tools, and still won't get the wires to stay in there.

If you use 8mm wires, you can. 8.5 are a PITA to get in the factory loom. Taylors, maybe. Some folks have trouble with them. MSD makes good wires, but you do have to put the Opti ends on yourself, as with the Taylors. Over the valve cover is definitely the way to go with LTs, and Thunder sells a set that includes the wires, ends, and centerbolt valve cover wire looms.

Msd has a direct fit wire kit, that doesn't require crimping ends after you pull the old wire's of the pass side, run the new wires between the aluminum plate and the block straight down the side of the block.much easier.i personally don't like the way OTVC wires look, they are to long to me.
