Default exhaust popping....

i have some pacesetter LT's with matching Y-pipe w/3" pipe into a 3" bullet (magnaflow) dumped just before the axle. its EXTREMELY "poppy".

will adding 2 1/2" pipe over the axle into another bullet muffler help get rid of the poppiness??? i love the sound of my bullet....just not at high rpms when it gets really "poppy".

oh yea...and it backfires if i rev it really quick???

Mine does the same thing, but not as much as you describe. I have the same exact setup, but with a Dynomax Bullet, with a 2.5" turn down. It's just really open, if you want to get rid of the pops, that might work. It just needs a little more back pressure.

Mine had it with the stock SS exhaust but was harder to hear/recognize it. Now the Pacesetter LTs and TSP x-pipe there's no hiding it but, usually only happens when I downshift and let the engine slow me down "pop-pop-pop"... You can hear it in my video clip a little. I'm not to worried... not sure if I should be though... any thoughts?

im running straight through exhaust, 1 high flow cat, no muffler or bullet and it does the same. and its exactly like everyone said its just a lack of back pressure.

i have the stock exhaust, i used to have a popping sound when the revs were coming down (like if revving in neutral), since my tune.. no popping at all.

Yea, it's a single dump. I have it opened up, then again I have a Cam, so I am using it a little better. It sounds deep when its going down the track, people thought it was a stroker. No one believed it was only a Hot Cam.
This is a vid, this is the old motor. The new one is a little more crisper.

ok ... good. im glad im not the only one with this. i didnt think it was a problem....just wonderin if there was a way to help make it a lil less noticeable. my second bullet should be here sometime next week and i will def be adding it after the axle.

hopefully i can "hide" it up high. like really close to the frame rail. i really love the clean look of nothing under my bumper!

Like maybe $70 at the time. I got the Headers and the Y pipe and did that myself.
This is a pic of it from the back.

the popping is the stock tune. It is PIG RICH and needs tuned down a bit and it will stop. Some guys also have had good luck with H and X pipes calming it down a bit.

If you look close, it's actually infront of the Axle. Kinda hard to see it, here is a pic of the complete Exhaust setup. Now that I think about it, I think it's a 3" turn down. This will give you an idea..
