I'm not an expert on this, but I don't think that a bad pcv valve alone can cause the intake leak.

It is a common fact that the LT1s have a tendency to leak on the rear due to high temperatures. One of the sites with a write-up on the job actually states how he talked to a GM Engineer and he was well aware of the leak.

In the Hayne's Manual it says you should change yours every 45,000 miles or so. A good way to check is if you pull the pcv valve out and shake it, you should hear a slight rattle.

As far as the intake manifold leak -- the writeup I used when I fixed mine was:
http://www.projecttransam.com/projects2.asp

Its very detailed and also has great pictures. I had to replace my lifters over Christmas break and the writeup was a great resource for pulling the intake manifold in general. I went ahead and put in some new Fel Pro performance intake gaskets (with spray on copper sealant) and some permatex copper rtv on the ends of the intake. I haven't had any issues with it yet.
