Default Electric Water Pump: Problem or not?

I just recently installed a CSR electric water pump on my car. It seems to cool fine when the car is idle or really slow speeds/RPM, but when I run about 2,500-3,000 on the highway it gets pretty hot. Not "hot hot", but stays up around 200-210 but never above? When I slow back down or set at a red light for about 30 seconds or so, it drops down to about 180-190 fairly quick?

Didn't know if this is normal or if I have something hooked up wrong, or I just got a faulty pump?

I'm dont know from personal experience but, from what I've read the EWP will flows constant rate no matter what RPM your at. SOOO,... when your holding a higher RPM, the engine will get a litte hotter since the EWP doesn't increase its flow like the stock cam driven pump would. I think your seeing normal operation for it. Try a search and see what others have said about these.

Friend of mines car had a Mezier on it, would idle forever at normal temp, like 180*, within 5 minutes of driving it would overheat, changed it back to a mechanical one and never had any problems. He sent the pump back and Merzier rebuilt it but he is just going to sell it (still for sale if anyone wants it) and keep his mechanical one since it looks better. Mezier never told us what was wrong with it, but it is rebuilt and he has a ceramic coated housing to go with it as well.

Thats what a buddy of mine and I were talking about earlier today. The factory water pump would actually flow more with an increase in RPM were as the aftermarket would flow the same no matter what. A friends car has the same wp but his car is a M6 where mine has a th-350 and a stall, so his is completly different. I believe he said his barely moves the needle past 160.

i have had mine on for over a year with no heating issues at all... at most my car ever gets on a hot summer day is 195... you need to have a good coolant and i use a type of "WATER WETTER" in the system for added help in the cooling department.. but your fan temps is whats really going to make or break the EWP...
its a good mod... it just has to all be done right to get the right bennefit..

Mine acted like yours when I put the electric pump on, after about 6 months it got worse and worse. My radiator was partially plugged, a new radiator fixed it right up, now it runs around 170 on the road and heats up to 190 around town till the fans come on. Also if you are missing the airdam it will make it run hot on the road.

were the fan settings still stock? What thermostat is in the pump? If you have stock settings and a 180* thermo i would think that would be the issue, but im not 100% sure...thats just what ive heard

I have the Meziere HD and it stays around 160 to 180 no matter what speed the motor is going. I also have my fans kick on at 180 and off at 160.

There is a tradeoff, correct on the constant flow for an EWP but at speed the airflow through the airdamm, etc helps increase the cooling, perhaps not as much as the stock wp who knows for sure. I have one on the stroker and with the AFR heads which have a tad smaller flow cooling area over stock heads and I was running 170 middle of July here in SE TX at the 1/4 track, pass after pass never higher than 180...(factory temp gauge), installed an AutoMeter temp gauge for a redundant system and wouldn't you know the sumbich runs 200 deg while the stocker runs 170....shrugs...I don't know but think the AutoMeter is more accurate. My fans come on at 160, you may check make sure both your fans work, both are coming on and at what temp.

I'll have to double check what my fans are set at with the guy that tunes on my car, but the stat is a 180....That could be one part of it, wasn't thinking of that originally....
I may go ahead and order a 160 and have my buddy turn the fans down a little and see if there is any change.

And yes, my air dam is still in the car.

And someone said something about a "water wetter"?
I haven't heard of this? Is it like an additive you mix in with your coolant or what? Can you buy this at a local auto parts store or does it have to be ordered?

You can get water wetter at your local parts house and its just an additive. I run it in my car and my best friend swears by it after runnin it in his dirtbikes for years.
