The Ultra Z ram air kit is awesome, everything fit like a glove which is what I was after. I wanted this to look as factory as possible and thats what I got, there was no need to modify anything. I bought the hood used on ebay for about half the cost of a new one. The only complaint I have with this install is the hood. It tends to want to sit a little higher than the fender on the drivers side. Looks like Im gonna have to spend a little time tweeking it. Other than that there is plenty of room under the hood up front by the latch. "The_merv" I think I found your hood. If it fits this huge air box Im sure it'll fit over your LS1 conversion.

Prior to this install I had the calloway honker cai w K&N. So down low there isn't much of a difference. However up high it pulls a LOT harder. Kinda makes me wonder why SLP didn't offer this as an option for the Camaro like they did for the Trans am.

 

Looks good. Need to clean that bay up man. Any pics of the hood yet.

Yeah I do need to clean it up. Shes been sitting in the garge for a while. Ill post pics of the hood this weekend when I get it cleaned up.

 

let me know the outcome of the air box. BTW how much did you get it for. I have the Ultra Z hood, but always thought the gains would be small switching from a cold air kit to the Airbox.

 

Where did you get the intake piece that fits on the air box itself and hooks to the MAF? I need another one for mine, and yes, i love that intake as well (same on WS6 cars)

I found the kit at the WS6 store for $275 which is a deal because most places are asking $308. As far as the gains, like I said down low is about the same as a good cai set up. But there is a definate gain on the high end. Car pulls a lot harder up top. If you already have the hood you might wanna think about the kit.

 

I used the stock rubber piece that came with the car for that. It fit right onto the air box with no problems and the bellow that came with the kit from the throttlebody to the mass air still allowed me to use my air foil.

 

That's why I went with the LS1 setup, it has a hell of alot better airflow.

 

Definately that vent is out of there. I've still got plenty of work to do to this hood before its to my liking so I'll do that this weekend. Plus im still working on the fitment. Ive got everything lined up and at the right height around the winshield but Im still working on it down towards the lights. Thanks for the complements guys. Here are some more photos.

Completely agree, the 90 elbow kills airflow and the rest of the set up is way to long period.

 

I think your fine. That opening on the underside of the hood is 18.25 wide.

 

I can see the width is good, but the height might be a factor... it will be close. If I do endup with a hood like that, I might have to do the Ram-air setup. The Lid conversion works for now.

 

Isnt that kit made specifically for the Z hood?
