4.10 Gears on my Z28

I ran 4.10's in my 94 w/a T56 and loved them....swapped the tranny to a 700r4 and the 4.10's were a little too much gear for a DD. Switched to 3.42's and they were better for driver duties but were not enough for drag duties. I am now running 3.73's and 27" tires on the 94 and 3.73's and 26" tires on my 95 w/a 4L60E.
cliff notes
4.10's are good for a T56
3.73's for a drag oriented A4
3.42's for a spirited daily driver A4

5th in the T56 is .73 and 4th in the 4L60 is .7...so to give you a good feeling of how 4.10's would be in an auto ride around in a M6 in 5th gear

Yeah that is a crazy jump. My mind was blew away when I went from the 3.42 to 4.10s, that was the first time I've had a gear swap in any of my cars.
Yep I love the t56, at 75mph your barely turning over 2k.
It takes way less effort to accelerate, which is where you use most fuel, not while cruising, so if you could control your right foot, gas shouldn't be so bad, I haven't noticed a difference yet, can drive for about 4 1/2 hours before stopping for gas, burn about 12.5-13 gallons in 4 hours or a little more.

well with my 4.10s, if you paid me for gas to ride around in 5th on the freeway then i would lol. i use 6th on the freeway and still get
i still miss my 3.42s, so i can drive on the freeway and sit at 1500rpm. and my gears would last longer.
to everyone with no traction: same here, when turning and on the gas i powerslide no matter what. especially in rain. when/if there is any

but on a drag radial rolling into first gear and through a quarter mile, it is just about the greatest feeling my bolt LT1 has ever had.
ps when you have too much power, 3.73s are fine with a t56. my friend's 74 nova with a 383/t56 does just fine

My friends are impressed when i loose traction turning out of my driveway going like 5 mph. After traveling 2500 rpm on the highway in my automatic, i realized this is a low cruisin or strip car. So what do i do? change the gears? nah i bought another car to drive to work.

a 9" would be great. 2 center sections. 1 with 4.11 or 3.90 and 1 with 3.50
