is this dcr or scr ?
I asked my engine builder what my cr was today. I need to know because i am getting my computer tuned. he said the it was 9.7??? this does not sound right to me. if my scr is 9.7 this is way to low, (unless i put a blower on it). but if it is my dcr then isnt that to high? need some input. which one do you guys think that it is!?

cam specs on 1.5 rr 516/522 230* 240* @.050 112lsa. 1.6 rr is going to be used on the motor. heads > Combustion chamber size 67cc. 320cfm at .600. 125 seat pressure. this motor was not build for RAW hp. because it is the only car that i have. and i will be doing some high way driving (i live in Houston). but the engine builder does think that it will make around 480 to the wheels.
just though you would want the specs.

9.7 is way too high for DCR and way too low for SCR. There's no way that motor is going to make 480 to the wheels with that combo.

Use this link to calculate your own SCR. You will need things like gasket specs and deck height because those parameters are what you need to figure your compression ratio.
What heads? What pistons?

ok well i called the engine builder up again. and told him that some friends of mine (LS1TECH.COM) told me that 9.7 was way to low and is not going to make 480 to the ground. and said "are you sure that you gave the the compression on the right motor" so he reconfigured the compression because he said that he configured 9.7 with being 5 in the hole because of the pistons (whatever that means) so after some silence he said that it is going to be closer to 10.3 or 10.4. he said that he kept it low so i could run on pump gas. so my question to you is does all this sound correct. does it sound like i could still get 450 to the ground.

Are those heads iron or aluminum? If they're Al, then your engine builder is much too old school. The stock F-body LT1 has 10.5:1 scr because of the Al heads. There are plenty up people running 11.5:1 and more on pump gas with the Al heads. I don't know how much that low scr is going to hurt you, but it won't be at max performance.
That cam isn't that big and those lift numbers are pretty small if you're using the 1.5 rockers. If those heads flow that much, then they are really badass. I wish I had some like that, however, I doubt you'll make much over 420 rwhp.
Where did you get those heads from and how much?

Ok, the cam specs said 1.5, so I was confused. If the motor is already together, then there's not much you can do. I'd be more worried that your engine builder can't calculate the correct scr for ya. You need the advertised numbers of the cam in order to calculate dcr.

Sounds like he was just guessing on the deck height of that motor. I am assuming he meant 5 in the hole to be .005" on the deck. Doesn't sound like he knew what it actually was.

well I am going to tell PCMFORLESS that it is 10.4:1 compression. since that is what he said the second time. I am just going to do a mail order tune for now. then in a couple of months I am going to get a dyno tune. So i guess its looking like my motor isnt going to make very much power huh

the motor isn't in the car yet. it is fully built sitting on a stand in a garage with headers on it (i'm buying suspension pieces). so do i have to have the motor in the car to have a compression test done to it.

If you are spending any coin on this motor then you need to get your engine builder to give you the specs for your pistons cc, deck height, what gaskets he is using, you should know the head cc, bore and stroke. You will also need the IVC to calculate DCR, if you want to that is.
