!Traction Control, why?
I searched and I couldnt find a clear answer. My question is, why do people take out there traction control. I know everyone says its safer or something. Why is it more safe? I figured having it would be alot more safe than not having it. If someone can give me some clear answers as to why its better to not have it, i'd be very appreciative. Maybe some pros and cons. That'd be awesome. Thanks alot.

Im going to delete mine as soon as i get a 12bolt i hate the ASR and its way to violent on the car for my liking anyways.. but im not going to go out of my way to delete it when i can just hit the button and i figure once the time comes for a 12 bolt why spend more money to retain the POS ASR?

I want to remove mine because it sucks when launching at the strip if I forget to disable it. That leads to a very bad ET. Also, I prefer to be in control when my tires break loose. Sometimes I will let off the gas, other times I will just steer out of it. I'd rather make that determination than letting traction control do it for me.

camaro freak, good point. When mine engages I feel like I have no more control. How do you delete it? Like, When I put my cam in, I had to get rid of the a/c compressor to make room for the new valve covers I was putting on. I had to make bleed lines for the compressor. What is the easiest way to delete TCS?

I still have mine, unfortunately, and I don't know the exact procedure to remove it. I know there is a table in the PCM that retards timing when it kicks in, which can be tuned out. However, there are mechanical components connected to the throttle cable that would need to be disabled/removed as well.

Yes SLP makes a module that plugs inline between your button and the harness. It reverses the function of the switch by making the TCS always be off untill you push the button to engage it.
I deleted mine for more room, I had the brake portion relocated to infront of the fuse box and everything else moved slightly as well for my Procharger. I got so sick of working around the tight spaces around the blower because of the TCS components that I just bought a ABS/TCS delete kit from SJM... Now I have all kinds of room on that side of the motor.
Its not safer without it, the TCS has saved my *** more than once in FL rainstorms, ABS as well. But I dont ever drive the TA anymore so IF it ever sees rain again, it'll be while the car is on the trailer.
Without the TCS, if I got caught in the rain, I could never get above 30mph without tire spin. No matter how easy I was on the throttle.
One time when trying to get home in the rain, I was cruising along and all of a sudden I felt the car snap straight. What scared me was that untill the TCS kicked in and helped the car correct itself, I didnt even know the car was getting sideways because it started drifting so gently. That really freaked me out and made me keep the TCS for a long time. Once I had a new daily driver that crap all came out though.

Guys you can take off the TCS, all you need is the throttle cable and cruise control cable without TCS and put them on. Thats what I did to remove mine along with the ABS. Here a web page on how to remove both.

The SLP module you need is a diff part #... Cant find it, but it does exist. Although the 99-02 cars just had a different plug on the harness, the switch function was the same (I put a 99-02 switch on my 96 w/ new console)

Once I was driving home in slush. I could do 30-35 in fifth only slightly touching the gas. It felt alot better to me with the tcs off. Even in my gtp I always turn it off in the snow. Like said above I like being in control of my vehicle.
