Or the fact that people are making 520+rwhp out of stock bottom end 346 c/i LS1's all motor, when the majority of the H/C LT1's cant even break 400rwhp. And stock vs stock it isn't even a race unless the person in the LS1 can't drive for ****.

First off I hate to say it bro but you don't know what your talking about LOL. Secondly, if you opened your eyes a little you'd see that people like Tony Shepard fast93Z on here are well over 400hp and guess what he races an LT1.

Btw LT1 guys are not the ricers, sorry about that bro, I have big respect for the LS1's but I have to say the most LS1 guys by my area (where I live)would be consider the ricers before us. Only that there the top dogs still so they can get away with it.

There the ones always doing the bashing because they have the newer better cars. Also all they do is throw a LID, exhaust and halos on the car and call it good. That's all I see around my area. Now that's just a fancy way of being a ricer if you ask me. And what makes them a ricer is that they bash everyone else and think there car is god. THere's nothing wrong with just doing the mods if that's all you can afford, when you open your mouth and start badmouthing everyone else then things change.

Also there are several members in my club that are well over 400 horse and guess what they drive, LT1's. The part I don't understand is that your an LT1 owner, and your bashing them, WOW!

To answer the original question, it doesn't take to much to beat a stock LS1. If you do full exhaust and a tune, you'll be right there with them, and if you know how to operate your car you'll walk them. That's all it took for me.

Did you see the vid posted earlier??? stock ls1 who ran a shitty *** time of 13.6 still beat a stock lt1 who ran a 14.1 thats 5/10s in the quarter, and I ran a 13.0, 12.991, and 13.04 bone ****** stock in my last 2002 with full race wieght. Are you trying to tell me that you do tune and exhaust and cut a full second of your e/t???? I find this hard to believe. If that is true, then sounds like your ehxaust and tune is bolting on about double what most do lol. Nice very nice

You can't judge each car based on statistics. There are a lot of stock slow LT1s and fast LT1s. Same with LS1s or any car in the world for that matter. If he can beat stock ls1's consistently with bolt ons and a tune, good for him. No reason to call him out for it.

Not calling him out, just meerely inquired as to how whether his advice is sound. The fact of the matter is if this guy goes out and gets exhaust and tune and trys to beat this ls1, the odds are against him. I frankly am quiet dumbfounded as to why you feel statistics are not relevent to this situation. I would think this guy would want the best possible way to accomplish this goal, not the one chance in a million.

As stated before, dry kit! hide it, spray it, win it

I have a ???????? for you how much money did you spend to be in the 12sec club because I got there with only $11,000, and that is with the price of the car
I am willing to say that you paid more than that on just your car. so I dont fill that bad when a LS1 car can beat a LT1 car that was 1/2 the price. give me the money that most people put in there LS1 cars and I would be in the 9's all day long.

I am so tired of this crap!

1) Ls1s are newer with newer technology. OF COURSE they are going to be better than an engine series that dates back to the 70s

2) lt1s are older...but they arent THAT weak because HEY theres only about 50rwhp difference between a stock lt1 and stock ls1 (notice...STOCK)

3) stock ls1s have been known to hit 12.9s. Stock lt1s have been known to hit low 13s. want proof? search

4) the whole "i ran a stock ls1 and ROCKED him on the street" doesnt mean crap. why not? because there are multiple factors in play. besides...your comparing YOUR lt1 that YOUR driving vs ANOTHER's ls1 that ANOTHER is driving.
Why does it not mean anything? because your not comparing motors, not comparing power, not comparing mods, just driving! hell I beat my friends neighbor's built 540 Nova...but it was sitting in the garage on stands.

5) Moving on from that, this is why the whole idea of NUMBERS is so popular. Numbers dont lie. 300 rwhp vs 280 rwhp (random numbers, im not insinuating these are ls1/lt1 numbers)...its VERY easy to say which one has more power (if you have the basic understanding of a preschooler)

Now, I would love to say "hey, lets compare numbers instead!" but the whole "my friend had yada yada yada and got X more then a lt1/ls1" would resurface again and we would, once again, be at each other's throats.

So I am going to say this. Ls1s are better then lt1s, because they make more power STOCK. Once you start modding/tuning, then all bets are off.
To the Original Thread starter: to hang with a STOCK ls1
from a dig: gears. higher numerically=shorter gears=quicker acceleration=lower top end SPEED
from a roll: full intake and exhaust...so a CAI + filter, longtubes or headers of some sort, high flow cats or !cats and a catback or dumps + tune to utilize all your mods
Also, races from a roll highly depend on the power to weight ratio, so if you can ditch your rear seats, spare and jack and excess junk...that would help ya out a little bit.

Don't forget, run the Ls1 when he has a full tank of gas, and you only have 1/8 of a tank, turn off your A/C, get rid of washer fluid, pee, take a dump and make your g/f watch from the sidewalk.

LT14MULAWS-6 and the_merv, you two need to stop bickering back and forth. This is the second time this week. Please refrain from using profane language as well.

Thanks, Jason
