Intimidartor? The guy with the Orange TT camaro did close to 200mph, I think but thats modded.....

A few others have gone 160mph in LS1 cars, I know for a fact a LT1 will go 150mph plus stock

Pat G went 180mph in the standing mile with his LS1 with a head n cam with a 150shot..

I don't think I have been much over 155, but I haven't tried very hard, I hit 5800 in 5th and call it quits. It gets there stupid fast at least it seems now that the 4.10's are in there.

Who's car is feeling light at that speed? My car feels real solid, I have all the spohn goodies out back, bilsteins, HD's I think, and the energy suspension bushing kit, and slp subframe connectors. 275/45 tires.

It depends on you setup I guess. I have had mine past 180 MPH and it felt pretty solid. But then again I have this large spoiler that helps with the down force in the rear.

That thing probably has a drag factor at that speed..that's a steep angle. I am suprised it doesn't rip off. I got the RS Spoiler off of a wrecked 96, it looks pretty sharp.

If anything it felt like my car kept getting tighter at speed, stock Z spoiler no ground effects, just brand new 255s Z rated of course. I think just the shape of 4th gens lends itself to good downforce.

I'm sure anything that isn't shaped like a bullet will have a drag factor. Actually I got the idea for the spoiler after I saw it on a car featured in an old GMHTP magazine. The car had a stroker motor in it and supercharged with 2.73 gears, it did 212 MPH. He got the spoiler to help with the down force as well. The spoiler is made for the down force at high speeds. It's not coming off by the wind.

178 MPH on a 100 shot of NOS. It was a race against a heavly modded WS6. I knew the speed because I was using my GPS trying to find out where the hell I was at the time. I will never do that again. My windows started sucking out.

Yes, I hate the windows! Solid roof here, but I have the windows deal going on also at high speeds. Well my gaskets aren't rotted, but they look like they are recessing a bit, I get a few drops of water in my car when I wash it.

I wonder if fresh gaskets would help keep the windows sealed at higher speeds??

Stock speedometer speeds can be up to 15MPH in error by the time you reach 150--usually they read fast.

However, I ran 150+ (gear limited-A4) according to the speedo for about five miles, after reaching the top speed. This was on a dead straight, unpopulated at about 4 am.

LOL...man you guys reminded me of my old 97 t-top T/A (cold air/exhaust). I was driving back from Austin one day and this mustang rolls up on me and wants a piece. So I give him the nod and give him the jump and proceed to put about 100 cars on him. I took that car all the way up to around 145. I remember when I was up there the windows started shaking violently and I thought they were going to literally be sucked right off the car so I shut it down.

After that the car was NEVER the same and I don't think investing in complete brand new gaskets would have made a difference. It was noisy and just overall drove like a POS. Thankfully that car didn't last long and I flipped it three times street racing (reason I don't street race anymore) and totaled it.

That wing is made for real down force, and it looks good

Our speedos are very good, and almost right on for a factory part.....Talk to some road racers in the other section on this forum.

Let me re-word that, they are decent

145mph and had plenty of pedal left. I got the shaky window too. Not too many places around here to really open it up.

I don't know officer, my speedo only goes to 155.
(We had to test the 3-4 WOT shift somehow, I got carried away)
Let off just in time to test the new tires and swaybars on a curve. (Which it handled effortlessly)

Not smart ... probably won't ever do it again
