160 deg stat make Cat go bad?

Default 160 deg stat make Cat go bad?

well I started to smell alittle exhaust and then now I hear stuff rattling in my Cat, Its a high flow magna Cat w/8000 miles I put on it
my Q is why would it fail so soon could my 160 deg stat cause it or what about my o2 sensors could they cause it?

The thermostat has no bearing on exhaust temperatures or the cat.
Can't see how an O2 sensor would cause cat failure either.

cool, thats what I thought but I read some place on the web that the o2s might cause it.

A 160 degree stat can make your car run rich, if its running too cold, and could cause cat failure.

I'm not trying to argue, but I ran a 160 stat for 7 years without a tune, and never had any problems. However, I am not sure what too cold would be defined as.

With a 160 stat the engine still operates at 180-185 depending on outside temps.

Using this same logic, it seems like our cats will fail in the winter. I am confused.

If ur O2 sensor is bad there is most definitely a possibility that ur cat could get clogged, and nah a 160* T-stat isn't gonna cause it.
