LS1's have the advantage of the "cathedral"(sp) ports, aluminum blocks, better ignition system and intake system, oh and aftermarket. other then that it is all moot. hense my name and intentions.
p.s. i have out run a few LS1's at the track. but thats chalked up to plain track expirience.
on the street from a roll my bolt on LT1 is pretty much smoked.

I have ran LS1 Cars in mine, and pretty much kill the stock ones. I ran one with a Hotcam that these guys transplanted in a V6 Camaro, and we were side by side from 60 all the way to 125. He had Drag Radials, I was running stock tires. He also had 3.42's, and I had 3.73's. If he had the same Gears, I would of pulled him.
That would of been a nice vid, LT1 Hotcam vs. LS1 Hotcam, LT Headers, stock Heads, side by side.
That is why I am looking into my 408 Swap, cause if my LT1 Hotcam Car is movin now, then with that build up it will fly...

believe me im all for lt1, but you have to realise the potential od lsx platform, lt1 best your going to get it 440 or so on motorwith big afr ect 500
lsx guys put down 420-440 cam only, sub2bu did it with a trex throught a 5100 stall....
heads cam ls1 are making near 500...thats just bolting on stock ported heads...
when they go with a bigger motor and some other heads, unported like the l92 they can easily put down 550 on motor...this heads and intake setup only cost 1300 brand new...thats killer...
anyways ls1 guys are cocky....lt1 ftw!
lsx guys put down 420-440 cam only, sub2bu did it with a trex throught a 5100 stall....

The shitty part of the L92's is the require a 4.00" bore and you have to re-sleeve an ls1 for that. Its great for ls2's ect but for normal Ls1 F-bodys, their kinda SOL. The average Ls1 with a H/c set up will make any ware from 400-480 depending on how wild they went. Their are a few combinations that will net a 5.7 ls1 500 hp, trick flow heads and a bigger cam come to mind. Truth is dyno numbers are not everything to racing. Hence why the Lt1 pulled ahead spite the ls1 having better numbers.

And about the max hp thing, that gets complicated, but the 440 hp statement is DEAD wrong.
I have the article from Hotrod Mag CLICK HERE FOR ARTICLE about this and it explains why the LT1 has limits. The water jackets on the block stop it from being bored anymore then 400ci, but a poked and stroked LT1 can easily hit 475-500 hp with the right parts and stock castings. ( I think Ben's is a 396 ).
And to the original OP, the reason im keeping my LT1 is because I got a Sunoco Hood, ZR1's, and tons of go fast parts including new headers and the LT4 Cam Kit sitting in my garage and this summer is going to be great!! Winter is almost over thank god. Havent drove my Fbody since October.
I used your vid for my sig too.... LS1 guys are getting cocky lately so I added it to my little sig collection for all the Invincible LS1 boys to view .

I have pulled stock LS6 Corvette Z06's off of the line on the Track, but they catch right up and stay right about a carlength away until about 3/4 the way down, then I pull away a couple of car lengths. The LSX Engines don't get the jump like the LT1's do, but they will catch right up before you know it, that's just how they are designed.
It's simple to explain.. newer technology, better design.

i have beaten many of many cammed ls1 that made more power...and yes there has been 475-525 hp lt1, even hp lt1, but your talking about alot of special parts and a solid roller...
i agree about the lt1 jump thing, idk why,
and the 6.0 block is an easy fix for the ls1/ls2 problem
i take back my statement about l92 bolt on and make 550, i misread that post, but have seen around 500...thats unported....
plain and simple the ls1 is a better platform if your realistic, and has more potential, but the bang for the buck, is definately in favor of the lt1....

Is it the aluminum block or the composite intake of the LS1 that you think makes it heavier than the iron block of the LT1?
As said above dynos are not the track or even the highway.

i have 1996 T/A... bout it a lil over a year ago. Im 19. The car had 80,000 on it and a new motor. It has 10,000 more miles on it now and I am almost done with the turbo.
The turbo kit is good for up to 900hp or so.... Tc76MPS.... headers... good stuff.
On the stock motor it will put down mid to high 300s at the wheels assuming good tune...
The first fuel system will be good up to 500-550 hp with the 42# injectors... Just add more injector for more power. =D
Add good hardware (studs.. what not) and pistons and pump that 500 to the wheels. Probly should put in springs in the heads to hold the boost.
I would say that is the best build plan for power. No way to make it more reliably. 6k into turbo... 1k more into pistons and what not... and 500 rwhp... only thing to worry about it rods
