Default can a bad o2 extension cause bad mpg

lately i have been getting horrible gas mileage worse than normal. before i could get around 200 miles on a full tank of gas, the last time i filled up i got i little over 120. i knew somthing was wrong so i was going to check my o2 sensors and found one of the extensions was melted. it looks like all of the wires are fine but the heat wrap or whatever you call it is melted. could this be causing my bad gas milage? if not what else should i look for? I also found a random plug in my engine bay that has nowhere to go lol i added a pic maybe someone knows what it is

i dont think its the plug for the MAF i just switched from a CAI to ram air thats when i noticed it. i might have switched the empty plug with the one that is in the MAF now but that still leaves an open plug

that does look alot like a MAF and would be in about the right spot, that could hurt your gas mileage a little bit.

The random plug goes to your air pump. Has it been removed?

EDIT: Duhh...OK dumb question on my part. I see the headers without air hook ups, so of course it has been removed. I would just tape it up out of the way. It's not causing your problem.

i replaced the O2 sensors on my 97 S10 and my gas mpg went from 14 to 16. i dont know if the melting is making your 02s not work tho. if it has a lot of milage i would replace them anyway
