Default LT1 Single Plane: Underhood Modifications

A couple people have asked how a single plane would fit under an LT1 WS6 hood, I took a crappy pic today after washing the car of the modifications to the underside of my factory WS6 hood for those interested in the conversion. I haven't repainted the area that was cut out, but you could do this for a more stealth look.

As far as modification, just where you see the hood modified at the back and cut out. I'm using the lower Z28/Trans Am airbox. I'm not sure if the taller WS6 airbox on the LS1's would fit.

Man that looks sweet. I wonder what hoods would work on a camaro. I would like to know for future Reference. So when I start my motor build i can already have the hood in place.

Looks clean and professional! I like the valve covers too. Are those bolt-on fittings for the breathers? And do they use the push-in breathers? Lastly, where did you get those?

Does the LS1 lid fit under the stock ram-air hood, or do you have to modify it to fit?

Some people complain about the low end loss with single plains but they are nuts because it is an easy choice when you see what you'll gain up top. Plus with a 383 you have plenty of low end to spare good look with the setup looks nice.

Here's a little bit closer pic. I only have a 1.2MP digital camera right now but will have some 6MP pics soon.

The Valvecovers are Pontiac Racing perimeter bolt SBC tall covers. The bungs are welded in with a baffle for the breathers and the breathers are push in style. The TB is a Nick Williams LS1 90mm and the intake is a Super Vic converted by BRE, powdercoated, coated on the inside by Polydyn and ported by GTP to match the heads.

why not use the lt1 style throttlebody? like the mono-blade....it would give more clearance too.

I can see that they were welded in, did you buy them somewhere or just have them made?

Thanks,
Justin

had my builder modify the holes and port it to match everything
monoblade and a custom elbow
hope to fit under the stock Z28 hood

we are in the process of building an elbow that will accept a stock style TB and claer a stock hood. Should have details in the next couple weeks.

Will be similar to the one we build for the LS1

Anyone have a write up or something on how to do that ls1 lid conversion with a stock lt1 manifold?
