Hey Wayne I didn't know you were over here. You didn't spend a crap load on the stall did you? I am real interested in finding out how yours does.

Which shift has the delay or is it all shifts. Was it a problem right after the trans was built or did it slowly get to this point. I cant remeber if a stock 4l60e trans can hold a gear but try runing in first gear about 4500rpm. Once you get to a constant speed and hold it at that rpm hit it in to 2nd there should be a very very small delay to no delay at all. Then do the same for 2nd to 3rd. If it is delayed for a long period of time then I would have to say it's the clutches. I'm having the same problem with my 2-3 shift, even with shift point set at 5200rpm (just to see if it would fix it) it's still delayed. I know your trans has been rebuilt 30,000 ago but min was only 11,000 ago, but i replaced mine with stock quality hughes parts thinking it would be good enough. Describe the problem in the best detail you can and I'll let you know what happens to my car when I replace the clutches in about 5 days or so.

What is the difference between a lockup converter and a non lockup converter?

yeah i just dont post up a ton..im more of a shadower over here..i paid 562 shipped for mine and all the research i did seems to show that edge is up there with yank and vig..i couldnt afford to spend that much on a stall but i read nothing but horror stories out of tci and cheaper ones..the edge was a great deal..3200 witha 2.45 ssr...i heard they hit hard but i can handle that..andre was super knowledgable and i snet him my cam stats and the car stats and he picked which stall to go with

Ok I will try that this weekend. It does it from 1-2, and 2-3. So if it does delay, then it is the clutches? or could it be something else. Someone suggested to me it might be the throttle positioning sensor.

Well B if its the clutches its time for a FLT or an RPM tranny to support the future mods atleast then youd never have to worry about it again

When I replaced my tranny, I went with a 2500 stall because the old guys at the shop told me that parking and slow cruising through town would be terrible with anything higher... yeah, whatever, must have been smokin crack. (Guess I should have done my own search) I don't ever feel the stall. So, if a stall is supposed to be a performance mod, then go with something over 3000

I've swapped at least 6 convertors - all the brands here, yank, vig, tci, midwest
in my stock 95 lt-1 with 2.73 gears i bought a used art carr racing 9" that was built for a s/c 600hp motor. called art carr, they said with my much lower torque that it should be like a 3200 street converter - buy it. they were right. it was a hard hiting but easy around town unit with full lock up. Was 1 grand new, i paid 450 barely used.

on my ls-1 my fav over the 3200, 3600 and 4000 was a yank pt4400
that was with heads/cam and 3.73

the only point i want to make is don't be conservative with the stall rpm - these cars like to slip up to 3500 rpm and start pulling, then on light throttle or decel they like to disengage and coast - hit the gas again and the vertor hits

3200 midwest was as loose as a 4000 but never felt right, 3200 vig was too tight like a stock convertor, 3600 tci was too loose again without any good qualities for a street car.
these were my deals - not a rip on the companies - others may have beter results.
alot of this stuff is opinion on driving fun - not quarter mile testing.

i'll never put anything less than a 3500 behind a stock motor and more like 4000+ behind a built motor

enjoy the convertor and go to 3.73 for added kicks with no downside

I bought a used Vigi 3200 5 years ago for $415, car had like 55K or so miles, had a B&M cooler prior to that, one of the best things I have ever done. I dont have a shift kit how ever, the car has 71K miles on it now, so 16K miles later and no issues.

Yah, a heavy stock converter, made even more inefficient by bending the turbine blades. Sounds like a great idea.

Have any times behind that "awesome" restalled stock converter?

I second the Edge converters. I am really happy with mine that I picked up used. The 3400 with my 236/245 cam seems perfect. Now if you want to spend some money, get a Neal Chance.
