Default Smack talk from a 5.0

I have a 1993 Camaro Z28 6 speed, and my friend has a 1995 5.0 Mustang.

My car is completely stock except for a drop in cone air filter, while he has a drop in K&N filter, and a full exhaust(not sure what kind).

He seems to think he'll pull me pretty good, but everything I've seen says otherwise. Even with him having an exhaust, I don't think he'll be able to catch up. Our cars have similar mileage (slightly over 100K). What do you think?

I'm also looking into getting a full exhaust for my car. I don't wnat anything obnoxiously loud, but when I put the pedal down I want to hear it. What would you recommend, and where is a good place to order from?

magnaflow breathes well and isn't loud, not to mention it's stainless and some sponsors sell it really cheap

5.0 his prides gonna be hurting if those are his only mods.

If you've got the money a Borla kit is adjustable so you can adjust the noise level somewhat to your likings. Not to mention it is one of the most well made exhaust products I have ever seen, thats what your paying for, and a million mile warranty.

You could also do some searching...

I have never lost to a mustang. they would have to be pretty heavily modded to be beaten by it! And I mean Heavily! Mustangs are SLOOOWWWW! and they all sound the same.
This one guy raced my friends 02 z28. He had at the time a lid, LTs and TDs while the 03 mustang he raced had sc sitting on top of his pos 4.6. needless to say the mustang lost bad, and I mean a full second bad. The mustang ran a 13.9 I want to say, maybe 14.1 All I know is it might have tied my 1996 camaro in pure 136,000mi stock form!

you should not have a problem if he only has exhaust... those 5.0's in the SN95 bodystyles are slower than ****. As for an 03 w/ a blower running a 13.9 i feel sorry for that guy considering i know ppl w/ bone stock 02-04's 4.6's m5's running that w/ a filter and offroad Hpipe.

As long as your car hooks up you should have no trouble smoking a 5.0 Hell, I beat a 4.6 with my old 1.6 liter Geo Prizm once. You should have seen the look on that guys face!!! I was just as shocked as he was!

more like 215 bhp .... anyways , you should be able to wax him fairly easily ... dont worry about it , the higher the speeds you get up to the more and more you'll put on him , stock/barely modded 5.0's are slow ......

You would kill him, Mustang drivers talk too much. My own buddy has got a 5.0 with a cam, gears, full exhaust, etc. etc. and his car doesnt come anywheres close to mine. Another kid around here has got a Vortech s/c 5.0 and believe it or not that thing is a turd. I've driven my share of Mustangs they are just plain slow, unless they are really worked.

You will own him and do not get blowmaster, search there are plenty of other good catbacks that actually flow and sound good. It all depends on how much cash you want to drop.

If he had a blower and ran a 13.9, that is the drivers fault, not the cars fault.

An '03 Stang with a blower is easily a 400hp car, with supporting mods, mid-400's.

On that note, I have pulled an '01 GT that was stock from a roll in my '95. Stock for stock, I'll always put money on an F-body. But there is a reason why the Mustang 5.0 is one of the most heavily modified cars out there...cheap speed...

The SN95 GTs were turds, they weren't quick till they got he PI heads in, what 99? But the 5.0s and 4.6 SOHC are easily beaten. The only ones that I can remember giving me good races when I was stock were the 96-98 Cobras

i had it on my LS1. didnt care for it. wasent near loud enough. but i think its probably what you are looking for. it has a crossflow muffler with glass packing in each tip. fits nice tho.

If you want something cheap with good sound, buy a magnaflow. I cheap isn't the objective, check out GMMG. If you don't want something thats very loud, most exhausts will be too loud at first, but later you will enjoy it. $.02

Absolutely. 96-98 were horrible years for the Mustang, as with many vehicles that make a dramatic switch in engines.

However, the 99+ GT was a much better car with the 4V heads, although still no match for an LS1.

But, even the 2V GT's with a blower can make impressive horsepower if done right. Like I said, a blown 4.6 running 14's simply means the driver sucks.

since when did the 99+ GT's get 4 valve motors?

they never switched engines, the 96-98 motor is the same as the 99-04, just with some upgrades that im not sure off to get it up to 260 HP from like 225 or somthing.
