New Accord's are running at the very bottom of 14's nowadays......

And Charger's arn't AWD I do believe. That is only the Magnum. 5.7 Hemi's are pretty much in LT1 territory, and the 6.1's are in ls1 territory.

when you mentioned college reminded me of Jordon Musser. anyway, weather you go LT1 or LS1 you'll love driving it. I would go with LS1 just the fact that youll be able to start out with more power. Another thing to mention LS1 have better head design, youll be happy in the long run when you start mods.

BTW: To beat the 05 GT's all you need is a LS1 6 speed.

i love my lt1 and would not trade it for anything.

Well the Charges are in all wheel drive for the 5.7 not the 6.1, sorry I got that part wrong. Yes the 5.7 is in the lt1 range but the 6.1 stock for stock walks most ls1s unless you get those few and far between freaks. The 6.1 is running 12.8s in most reviews and the few i have heard about from guys at the track.

Not exactly. I speak for a lot of people on here when I say I will never own a FWD car. It's no fun. I'll get my LT1 around in any snow your Impy gets around in. Blizzard here in Indiana this winter?? It got me to work safely.

But, it is a nice car. It's pretty quick as well. Do I have any desire to own one?

No thanks.

But to the OP. I say get a nice LT1 for $5500 and put the other $2500 or so into it. I think you will be happier than you will be with a beat up, high mile, stock LS1. Just my .02.

Sorry bud but you need to check out our section every once and a while. Stock LS4 cars (IMPSS and MCSS and GXP) are hitting high 13s stock. A 14.5 is either high altitude or someone just learning to run the car.

And i dont see any women getting all giddy over an LT1 Fbody.

Your right i would rather own a RWD but there isnt anything practical yet with four doors in mind for a family that is quick. (not counting a CTS-V, i dont have $50,000+ for one of those)

An as far as snow there was some snow here in iowa you might have been able to get around in but not as well as FWD.

Well I own both an LT1 and an LS1 and I can tell you I think the LT1's are a heck of a bargain. I got a 93 Trans Am for $4000 that was never winter driven and ran 14.0 at the track bone stock. I replaced the optispark with an MSD unit. That's all.

So, for $4000 I get a 14 second car. You can get to 13.5 with long-tube headers and dynomax exhaust, I have seen it done and I'm going to do it too. The possibilities are endless with an LT1. The LS1 is a better engine for street performance but everyone knows that the LT1 makes a great track engine because of it's stronger iron block.

Also there are sedans that advertise 260-280hp (6cyl Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, etc.) but they aren't really putting out that much.

Haha I don't know what kind of girls some of you guys hang around, but camaros and firebirds don't pick up most girls. Some girls might like a loud, fast car, but they are in the minority. The only cars that pick up a lot of girls are the ones that look like they cost 40K+.

I'll stick to using other ways to get my girls

I love me LT1. With the mods ive done, I take out every stock LS1 I come by and 99% of the lightly modded ones. Plus you cant beat the sound of the LT1. Another thing, I love the low end torque!
Amen brotha. If he's runnin a 13.5 with all his mods he either a) never set the car up right or b) he can't drive for ****. Cause even with the lame hotcam and other mods you should be pulling better numbers than that. Also did you get a tune for the cam? Also get rid of that damn chip for christ sakes that stuff is garbage.

I agree you hate your car sell it!

Sadly it's true. They've all gone ga-ga over stupid imports that don't look or sound like they have a pair.

As the saying goes: Imports are like tampons, every ***** has one
