Horsepower question
hey guys i got a 1997 Trans Am WS6 and im adding some **** to it and i was wondering if you guys could give me a rough estimate on about how much hp im going to be tacking on to it.
k the list is:
160 thermostat
K&N air filter for my engine (Ram Air)
K&N air filter
Borla adjustable exhaust
Pacesetter headers LT's
thats the list so far. how much hp is it going to be adding?
im also thinking about switch my rear gear ratios to 3.73:1, but i heard thats gonna gimme shitty gas mileage. Would changing the rear gear ratios gimme alotta hp or no?
and does dyno tuning it add more hp? if so how much?

you will be at about 300-310rwhp most LT1s dyno at 280rwhp and 310rwtq. so after all those mods plus gears i would say 300-310rwhp and around 330rwtq maybe more. gas millage really wont be hurt that much. depends on how you drive.

330hp is the estimated flywheel hp. which is power at the motor then you get rwhp which is the power to the wheels after a percentage of drive train loss. You did not mention if you were a auto or manual so there is a difference with the 2. if a manual you will see a better rwhp gain then the auto.

yeah i'd say about 30-35 hp..... most of it coming from the long tubes..... gears would be the next obvious addition to this car's setup..... And yes flywheel hp is the 330 number... your rearwheel hp is going to be about 15-20% less than that because of all the parasitic losses turning the flywheel, converter, tranny, driveshaft, and rearend/axles/tires.... what you see at the tires is how much you put to the ground.... it's more realistic horsepower...
