Explain what you mean by mild cam. You may or may not need new injectors as it depends on how much crank hp you're putting out. I think the formula I was told is HP x .07 = #/HR So 500 crank hp needs 35# injectors at minimum.

Also, you will need a tune if you get new injectors. I'd recommend getting a mail order tune. I went through pcmforless.com and couldn't be happier.

I was just told by my machine shop that built my long block, that they put in a little bit bigger of a cam. not really that big. runs fine as it is without the new throttle body. i was just worried with putting on the new 58mm throttlebody and port matching the opening for it.

They should be able to port match the intake to the heads and the TB easily. I would want to know exactly what parts are in my car if it were me. Just trusting them to pick a cam that's right for my setup is difficult for me to do.

Make sure to search about those throttle bodies as well since there are some issues with them brand new.

I wouldn't run any cam that isn't stock without a tune.

Personally I'd get new injectors and a 52mm. That would ring in around $550 and you wouldn't need to port the intake for the TB.

I agree with ^ if you haven't already purchased the TB. There is a guy on ebay who sells ported stock TB which have the least problems out of the box and again, you don't have to port the intake. There's little chance you'll see any gain from a 58mm over a 52mm.

I have a throttle body being shipped to my house already, paid for
but the injectors are $200-$300 and a tune is $350

Where are you getting a tune? Check out pcmforless.com. Unless you're really trying to squeeze every hp out of it for racing, there isn't much improvement of a dyno tune over a mail-order tune.

Well the injectors shouldn't cost you THAT much. I mean I guess they can. Check the For Sale section here. People are selling injectors and stuff all the time. I think I got my 24# SVO's (running 25.5 @ 43psi) ran me $50 or $75. I got them years back. They're used of course, but meh, low miles.

I bought my injectors used as well. As long as they don't have plenty miles on them you'll be fine. I'd say get some 30# SVO injectors as you can find those all day long.

If you can, see if you can do a back to back dyno with the edelbrock intake as we haven't had many definite numbers on that thing and it would help out a bunch of people.
