Default Who is running a brake vacuum reservoir with big cam?

I dont have a "big" cam, I have the LE 1.5 which is similar to the CC503.
I have 12" HG according to the mityvac on the intake fitting and the brake pedal is not as responsive as it was with the stock cam.

Who has installed the brake vacuum reservoir with good results?
Any other thoughts?

If theres a problem with your brakes its probably something related with the brakes not the vacuum. I'm pretty sure my cams the sam cam as yours and my brakes work fine.....

I can stall my 4000 converter to 3500 on the foot brake.....course I gotta BIG leg LOL.

I was considering putting a vacuum reservoir on, I have one. Where in the hell would you mount the thing?

My problem is in a panic stop my brake pedal is hard and it doesnt stop so well, I got the sheeeot scared outta me on the street when a car stopped in front of me.

I have since put ALL new brakes and rotors on the car but have not driven it yet.

My concern as well.

I am going to try to put mine in the far left hand corner right next to the CAI down pipe. There is plenty of room there.

As far as brake problems, everything has been rebuilt and I am confident they are bled well, although i may do this one more time. I have full LS1 brakes from a wrecked 2000 Camaro. I am pretty sure the master cylinders and booster are all the same. Maybe I am wrong.

My thinking is if there is air in the line then the pedal would be soft. I checked the booster and it is holding vacuum.

just curious but do you downshift when you stop quick or panic stop? i always drop it and have never had a problem especially under panic stops. plenty of vacuum that way. you could also run a hydroboost(sp).

I have great pads and rotors that worked real nice before the new motor. I now get scared to go fast on the streets as the brakes plain out suck. I'd like a booster. I also have skinnies up front now and that aint helping!

for the cost of a hydroboost system, id gladly run a vacuum pump anyday. just my two cents. i havent dealt with this on my Trans Am yet, but i have a Toyota Tacoma with a built SBC and i got a vacuum pump. i went a different route though, i found one laying around from an old 6.5 gm diesel and fabbed a bracket. good luck!

A few things

The LT1 and LS1 have different front and rear ratios. BUT it is in your favor

Seriously My brakes work great and i have not had an issue with them since I went to a LS1 conversion in 99.

I would fab up a vacum pump set up

BTW I run STOCK GM Pads in the front and Hawk pads in the back for the best results
