Scat Crank. I will be making more than 400 WHP. you obviously dont know who Lloyd Elliot is. He makes 410-430 with the LE3 kit on a stock unbalanced bottom end. I dont have a stock bottom end......

i've got a few track buddies on classic 2 bolt mains running 6's in the 8th. I know what a two bolt main can do if setup properly. I will prove this point. hell, i've got buddies who have cracked 4 bolt mains trying to beat a two bolt. Set it up right, should have no problems. If not, I'll just rebuild it again. Why not do it right the first time you say? It's more fun taking a chance while beating you with a two bolt in the process. kinda like you LT1's and LS1's beating up on the new LS7's who probably spent $70+G's..... same concept. It just feels good being the underdog. We had a guy come up to were we hang out on Friday nights; he immeadiatly started doing donuts in the parking lot with his brand new C6 Z06 LS7. He walked up to me and challenged me to a race. Un prepared and with a miss on my car i had to decline my first chance to race one. Luckly my little brother pulls up in his Stock A4 1994 Conv. LT1 with headers, 4:10's, Dyno tune, nitrous 134,000 mile car. I beat my bro pretty bad while he was on spray me all motor. So we walked up to the guy and said, "I might not be able to run you but my little bro here will". He asked "what we had and we showed him,and told him an LT1". They bust out laughing in our face. Then he asked" if we were serious', long story short. Yes we were on squeeze but he never knew when we started the car he knew it sounded different. And when he saw our tailights slowly pulling ahead of his, I bet he really knew it wasnt his night. but when we got to 150mph it was a different story. We had no more gear left. Never underestimate the power of an LT1 or what it is capable of.

Yes I do know Mr Elliot and a stock engine is balanced. Just saying its easy to make that power on a 2bolt.

Yeah and so was my stroker kit? He showed me how much weight he had to take out of it just to get it balanced. He also showed me how much weight he has to take out of conventional stock crankshafts just to get them perfect. Factory does what they need to, just to get it out the door. you may think they are balanced, but you have no idea.

I'm in the same boat as you. Been almost 10's with my 2 bolt 396, but I was using main bolts at the time. I had the motor out and put studs in, bearings looked good. I have been worried about the 2 bolt mains but I guess I should not fix it if it ain't broke. When I break it, then I'll improve. The 11.34 in the sig was on a 175 shot but would have been an easy 10 sec pass if I didn't have the unlocked 700r4 at the time. I'm 4l60e equipped now so lockup should net me 1/2 a second. Oh yeah cheap converter too, so with my Edge I should be able to get a 1.4x 60' which will help too.

Damn. 1.4 60ft. that'll suck your gut in. I know a 1.60 will if your not expecting it.

I know, right..
I am about $16k invested after I get done, and hopefully close to 500rwhp..
It's not any ordinary LS1, but still cost-effective.

Already had the 1.53 with the crappy stall. Surely I can knock off .04 with the improvement.

I've never seen someone get a "kick" out of beating cars with 4 bolt mains with a 2 bolt main car.. that's the most ridiculous "bragging right" I've ever heard of.

And this is coming from someone with a 2 bolt main, stock crank setup Just studded mains, forged rods/pistons.

^LOL good point. Man I leave for the day and come home and this thing is blown up LOL. While everyone is on the subject of main caps, while mine was apart we found that my caps had been dancing around a little bit before.

I talked everything over with VRE for my setup (low reving 383, LE3 AFR's, and D1SC Procharger) and they set me up with a 2-bolt Studded main. Car should do 650-700RWHP even through the 4L80E, but I am only reving to 6200.
RPM's is what kills 2-bolt main setups and even then I see some going 7500 on SBC's that are making high HP. So who KNOWS, lol

Young Grasshopper take this from Old Wise One. It is far better to tell the truth than to tell a lie. You don't have to remember what you said.
