Default Need help Racing, i suck

So hear is the deal guys, every sunday i go to a gathering near were i live and well as it happends to be people end up street racing way after midnight and well i have just lost to much and i really would like to know what i em suppose to be doing when i race people, all i do is just leave it in D and step on it, i allways ask to go from a 30 roll as to many people don't like going from a dead stop. So is there anything else i should know to improve me lose rate.

Lost to LS1s last sunday and a 5.0 but i think that was all my bad with the 5.0.
Beat a stock STi with carbon fiber hood and trunk from about a 30 roll.

Stall that bitch and get some sticky tires.

And in the future, steer clear of the name "lose-alot".

wtf? you ask to go from a 30 roll in a stock stalled auto an you leave it in D?

I'm guessing you lose b/c that's pretty much the worst situation for that car you could possibly choose to race in. You're likely starting from the bottom of 2nd gear which is a huge dead spot on autos with stock stall.

I like 30 in mine because it'll kick down to 1st, and for whatever reason when I kick down it feels like it has more power, rather than starting in 1st. Tell them to stop being pussies and race from a dead stop If they give an excuse like they spin their tires, tell them it's not your fault they can't drive. And no, don't live it in D, because D is really OD.

Also, you might just have the 2.73s instead of the 3.23s, which would cause some acceleration problems.

And you're more than welcome to have my stock hood for your ram air lol

leave the car in first for a 30 roll so you will bring up the rpms and put the car closer to it's power band.

LSXs have some awesome top end power. A stock LT1 racing an LSX from a roll is not a winning proposition. Race from a dig (shorter the distance the better for the LTX too).

Everyone keeps telling you to buy more stuff, I'm shocked no one has suggested to take stuff off the car.

If you don't have money to make a car faster, you can easily drop a little weight just by removing some stuff. The spare tire and jack aren't a bad place to start, also the back seat isn't too bad either. If you haven't already done it, the TB Bypass takes all of 10 minutes to do, and it'll keep the Throttle Body a little cooler so you can get a little more peak power.

If you haven't done it, check this out:
http://shbox.com/1/tb_bypass.jpg

And also do a search, you'll find more than enough information on it.

Also look into doing a simple tune-up on the car. Plugs, wires, O2 sensors, Fuel Filter, Fluids. You'd be shocked at how well the car performs when all of the maintenance is up to date. Assuming you're younger (and broke.. hey I feel your pain), have the parentals pay for it. Tell them its so your car can keep running properly so you can get to school and work. It worked for me quite a bit

When you're racing, you can still stall the factory transmission a little bit. Hold the brake and the gas and get it up to about 1500-ish RPMs and hold it until the hands go down to go. Lay into it. A lot of the time it just takes seat time and practice to really get the feel for things.

Now with all of that aside, I'd also suggest taking it to the track. The ends rarely justify the means, and the controlled environment of a track will give you a lot more of a chance to practice improving your driving/launching skill than worrying about whether the idiot next to you will run you off the road, or if cops will come, etc. etc. etc.

Wire yourself up a manual fanswitch. It costs less than $15 to do, depending on how fancy of a switch you decide you want, its also on shbox.com Keep that LT1 cool, I've noticed how easy it looses some power once that temp gauge gets up there.

If he wanted a t56 he would have probably bought it in the first place. but like the rest of them said, i would either get a stall, maybe some tires. You dont have many mods so I dont see why you are going to be beating ls1's. You never know what mods other people have, like that 5.0.

yah thanks for the info and guess what, just raced the 5.0 and well i really lost about a half car lenght, after all it was done we must have raced atleast 15 times and well after all that we stop at a gas station and iam walking up to his car and they close the hood and i asked, What do you have man comeon tell me, He kept saying it was a stock 302 but it sounded really mean and i kept asking and then some girl out of the conner said its a 342 stroker or something like that but i got a same glimp of it and it looked clean, i mean super clean. then they kept deneying that i was stock because they said i was was to fast for stock. I mean all i have is borla's and ram air and thats it man, they diden't belive me in the end that i was stock.

but i did a good dig once and spinned but let off the gas and then gave it more and i hooked well and i got him about 3 car lengths. we would be head to head for a few seconds and then he would ripe away about 1-2 car lengths.
