A lower temp stat will do nothing w/ out getting the fans programed to come on earlier or a fan switch.

I might be wrong but I thought 195 was stock and then you had an option of 180 or 160.

It's a 180 stat (stock) ..only reason it normally runs so hot is because the fans come on so late.

See if someone around you has a tuning cable or program Im sure they do.

Otherwise- just go to a performance shop and see if they can do it.

i just threw in a 160 and mine ran cooler, the fans aren't coming on at 160 but i very rarely get above 170 now, even in the summer heat in traffic. its definitely worth it. im still going to have the fans tuned down though.

In some cases yes. It will still open the tstat earlier so coolant will begin to circulate more quickly, usually you won't see too much difference though. Changing the fan temps is a complimentary thing.

You might need a new radiator if it's still the stock one at your mileage.

if you run the car without the radiator cap on (take it off before starting), check to see if there is good motion/circulation, if not then the water pump is probably dead. also check for leaks etc.

before you go replacing all these parts and hot wiring everything get a tap and die set and chase and re-thread the bolt hole you stripped out, then check and make sure the radiator isnt stopped up at all, if the car has sat for while before recently this could be a big source of your problem, mine did the same thing and after hours and hours of thermostats and hoses it was the radiator the whole time, also check the coolant overflow since it is under the battery, battery acid melts plastic, and mine had a huge hole in it from this, if the radiator is open and the overflow is sealed, then re-post and we can help.....by the way get the fans working, grab a test light from autozone or whoever and check the relays and the fan motor out with that, if all is well at the motor then its a relay....

Yep been there done that, easily over looked. Also when you take the cap off to check for circulation, make sure the engine is cold or you will blow your face off. And realize too that with the cam driven water pump, circulation is gonna look pretty low at idle since it's barely turning. You'll have to hold on the throttle for a little bit to see if it's pumping.
