Default How much can LT1 pistons and rods handle?

I have a set from a 91 vette i am going to install in a roller 87-98 5.7 block, it will have some decent heads and cam and i hope for close to 500 HP, will they handle it? I wanna use my N2O kit but i don't think it will happen. Any input greatly appreciated.

91 Vette was not an LT1, it was an L98. Did you mean a '92?

Not as much as you think they can handle, but more then you think they shouldn't handle. In other words, they won't handle what you think they might handle, but if they can't handle what they should handle then how do you know if they can handle it?

My apologies...I was messing around earlier.

What parts are you referring to?
The stock crank, pistons, rods and bearings have been known to handle 450-500hp with no problems with big Heads/Cam packages.

Its high rev's and RPMS's that hurt the crank journal and crank bearings. Anything over 6200rpms on a stock LT1 is exceeding the gray area.

I have about 500 rwhp with two stages of nitrous but I now have to tear it down and see what is makining all shavings in the oil.

Sweat, i plan on about running to 6200 rpm, i know that piston speed is the real determining factor on the slugs, that answered my question, i just didn't wanna put ARP bolts in them unless absolutely necessary.

Thanx

If you put the reverse cooled LT1 heads on a standard SBC block then watch out for cooling.
It might work. It might not.

Nope, just pistons and rods outta the 93 LT1 going into my 91 TBI block, 70 model heads claimed to flow 285 on the intake side, and my roller cam comp 236 242@ .050 520 540 lift, but i am going with 1.6 RRs so a lil more.
