Default Gen 1 cam in a lt1 motor?

What would it take to put a SBC cam in a LT1? Something with the opti im sure.

Depends on what year LT1..and if it's a Roller Cam.

The pin has to be right, also it has to be a 87-99 roller SB1 cam to use the cam retention plate, a machine shop could install the pin, all in all it is not worth it, just buy the right cam.

Let's delve a lil deeper. Are we talking flat tappet here?

I used a ZZ4 cam in my car for a few years, needed the center hole in the nose opened up and the pin length checked. I bought mine with the hole already opened up, but my understanding is $20 at any machine shop should take care of it.

That is of course a gen 1 roller motor cam.

There would be little reason to consider a flat tappet cam in an LT1. I believe they can have some benifits in low rpm use, but not anything useful to 99.9% of us.

My reason for asking is... A few years ago i was going to build a 383 TPI motor for my 91. I instead got a loan and purchased a 01 ws6. I sold the shortblock and still have the cam from SDPC.

Part number is 12-431-8

comp number is CS XR282HR-10

I often see LT1 guys looking for cams and i want to sell this cheap but not if it wont work for their car.

<<< Honest guy.

Thanx for the responses.

I just did a search on lt1 cams. It is not machined for the retaining plate. Can this be done at a machine shop?
