Default Front plates on LT1 cars

Do you run a plate? if so where do you put it. I run the plate under the bumper on my front valance, but the town cop is a dick and says it has to be 12 inches off the ground. My car looks horrid with a front plate, my car is also lowered.
I live in Iowa, is there some kind of mechanism that can slide the plate in and out from under the cars bumper?

Well mine is in the window, i will be damned if i put mine on the front of my car. Texas law states you must have a front plate visible fron 2 and 20 feet, i have been pulled by manny a state boy and they say it has to be on the front but when i state texas law they try to find something else to fakk with me about.

Front plate is a way of life in NJ. Yea, it looks better without it. But come on - it makes the car easier to ID. I have problems with a lot of laws, but I can definitely get on board with this one.

No, but you are not always doing 60.

i agree, if a cop is going to pull you over, hes not going to ride up in front of you and look at your license plate. just another law that makes no damn sense.

Actually, with allot of cameras at intersections out here it is a reason they want them. I know they are not everywhere but here we have toll booths and if you run one there are cameras there too.

Good point - there will only be more cameras coming - not less.

Or, how about when you are parked front facing out at home or in a parking lot?

Do you have an ispection sticker on your front window? Why? - you can't see it when you are going 60.

I honestly think this law has some base in reality, where too many others are just plain feel good stuff. Can anyone say gun control?

So no one has found something that can make the plate hide away?

If you really want a retracing/sliding plate assembly, look into the Sport Truck side of the automotive world, (i.e. aftermarket products specialst) and to name a few that I know carry a plate retracter/slider unit are:
godfather customs----godfathercustoms.com
Thorbecke Bros.-----Suicidedoors.com
AVS inc.----- AVS.com (I think)
FBI inc.-----FBIrides.com

or you can just go thumb through a Truckin` or Mini Truckin` mag...

Check your local laws and see if you can put the damn thing in the window like me and so many other Texas residents.

i put mine on after getting a total of 4 tickets for it between this formula and my old t/a... but my formula is comming off the road and will be undergoing major surgery starting hopefully within the year and you can damn well bet that with the work and body work and paint work that will have gone into my car that im gonna fill in the holes from the bracket and not have a front plate anymore... with that said it will not be a DD vehicle and someone mensioned cameras... most cameras are aimed at the rear of the car for the reason that not all states require rear plates... youve never gotten a EZ pass ticket inthe mail they snap the rear of your car with you plate... front plates are useless.... only good for gettin the numbers off the car that rear ended you...

Well, bring your self down here to Houston Tx., all the traffic lights have them and they are aiming at you when you stop. We dont have many out of towners as you might think, not enough to make it matter, as you said, the EZ tag on the beltway has them facing to and away.
