Default Advice on water pump (mine's dieing)

Pretty sure the bearings are going out, its starting to leak a decent amount after I turn the car off right below the water pump. I'm not completely sure I want to get an electric one, what do you guys think? I was planning on just getting an OEM unit from AutoZone.

I have one for sale in my signature off my '97 WS6 that had only 10,000 original miles on it and worked 100% perfectly. When I bought one for my old '95 I got one from Napa I forget what brand they use but it cost about $180 and worked great, it was an OEM piece. I personally wouldnt run an Electric Waterpump on a car thats daily driven and sees stop and go traffic but if its not than I dont see why not.

I am running an Autozone unit. Not the entry level - but the "lifetime warranty" one. Still early +/- 2 months - but no complaints.

...and mine is a daily driver.

there is nothing wrong with the electric unit, if you are drag racing, it comes in real handy keeping temps down considering you can run it and not the car...

Default Warning about the NAPA pump.

I bought a new NAPA water pump and believe it or not, the metal tube on the outtake came out and sprayed water all over the place and left me stranded. Fortunately it was only water since I was trying to figure out an overheating problem. When I took it back for a replacement, I tested another one and the pipe twisted quite a bit. Checked on another one and all was fine, but I still put a little JB around the it.

a lot of guys have good luck with the $50 rebuilt units from pepboys. I bought a 100% brand new bosch unit with a LLT when mine took a ****. 11 months later it started to leak. Someone put an F-car unit in the B-car bosch box, so they ended up giving my money back on the WP and then I just bought the standard rebuilt unit from pepboys. Has been fine ever since. I am however going to an EWP in the next year or so.
