Default tranny, 12 bolt, or bottom end?

I'm going to have roughly 3k to spend soon. My car is putting down around 385 now and I really cant build anymore horsepower without worrying. Each option will be pricey, but what should I do first, upgrade my tranny[local guy builds 4L60E's well for 1,500], get a 12bolt, or start building the bottom half of my motor and stroking? Seems pretty open ended but I know many of you have been in this position before.

work on the parts that are about to blow 1st, personally if the trans is in good shape, leave it as is, do not do the bottom end until your ready to really turn the wick up on the heads and cam. I would do a rear 1st, even on my 383, 2 and 1/2 seasons running 1.7X 60 foots and it was about to frag, so I worried about that 1st.

BEFORE I read your sig i voted for the transmission.. 385 to the wheels is alot of power for the stock 4l60e.. but then again you have (Trans-Go shift kit, EDGE 3400/2.45 converter) i know the shift kit will prolong the life of the trans but i would think if you start getting around 400 hp that your trans would take a **** on you

plus 1500 for a built trans sounds AWESOME.. i made the "newbie mistake" of going to Mr. Transmissions and getting a slightly upgraded from stock rebuild and they charged me 2k

It just sucks hitting a wall as far as power goes, I need to spend roughly 7K on building her up before I can spend $100 on anything performance. And at that note Im getting so sick of people telling me to 'just throw a 100 shot on'.

I say transmission, the 10 bolt lasts a tad longer in a4 cars than m6 from what i've read.

You guys could disagree with me if you want to, but I'm going to suggest against pretty much all 3. I would go with setting aside $2,000.00 and put a $1000.00 into some good suspension parts. Most A4 guys running considerable hp are still able to run the 10 bolts. Reason being is they don't take as hard of a hit as the M6 cars. If the motor pops then at least you'll have your $2000.00 to do something with that. Suspension goes a long way, I'm feeling the hurt from not being properly equiped with the right suspension right now.

So you're suggesting suspension/tranny.

I vote tranny. The rear end is a concern and I would have it be the next thing you do, but I doubt your 4L60E will handle that much power for too much longer and a good suspension setup is a must on these cars. The stock suspension is just well....really really BAD.
