Guys It may actually be better to just convert to a single plane.

If there manifold costs 1K (Im just comparing it to something like a fast 90/90), How much would a Single plane run.

I think If you really want to make a good LT1 manifold, base it off the stocker. Its really not all that horrible for what most of us use or cars for.
**** It could even be cast and then cleaned up afterwards by hand to save some money. Itd also be nice to see it with a trap door or somehting to make porting easier, If I had the means to start it up thats how Id go, seems like itd be way easier and cheaper.

WOW very surprising. It'd be nice to get some pics or preliminary specs.

Anyone wanting a killer LT1 manifold for race, check out Wilson manifold.... But bring your wallet, they run 3500 or so.

I'd buy one!! "If you build, they will come."

Having read through the whole thread, I don't think the financial aspect of this is really anyone's problem but the entity trying to build/sell it...i.e., You make it. I buy it. lol. I understand the concern though.

I think the two piece or composite is a cool idea, but like someone else said, don't let it take away from the intake coming to fruition.

Unless the intake is for high-horsepower apps which take all kinds of customizing, i think it needs to still fit alot of the stock/factory components. How would an LS type TB effect the throttle cable and cruise( personally, I don't think that's a good idea. But who am I to say it wouldnt be a better performance?)? Will the new intake accomodate the fuel Lines? Fuel pressure reg? tps sensor? egr? And any other misc items.

these are just thoughts, but I would definately buy one if im not modifying the whole car.

Here's some inspiration/food for thought:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsG4R4L-Gxk

This is a new intake that is very close to being released for retail sale. It's called the Barry Grant "Badman" inline carbureted intake. It's based off an old Ford designed manifold from the late 60's early 70's called the "Cross Boss" that became outlawed in Trans-Am racing so they abandoned production on it in favor of the 4-barrel configuration.

In the video, pay close attention to the manifold base, which Barry refers to as the "Aero Ram." It's this design that I think would be the most plausible and come the closest to being made into an LSx "folded hands" style manifold for the LT1.

Where the stock intake is compromised is the fact that GM had to incorporate an EGR tunnel that ran underneath the main plenum. If you eliminate the EGR tunnel as a design concern, you can utilize the dead space that it would normally take up in favor of situating the runners so that they would run across and through this area. This is essentially what the Badman Aero Ram base does:

Notice the nice straight shot from one side of the manifold to the other:

If you wanna break this down into simplistic terms, this manifold design is really the polar opposite to the LSx design, but essentially arrives at the same conclusion. The LSx manifold has a plenum that the runners wrap up, over, and around the top of. This Aero Ram intake would have a plenum up over the top and the runners would run down, under, and across it.

I think this Aero Ram manifold base, (or at least, the overall design), would make an excellent candidate to fabricate and weld on an upper plenum with an LT1 throttle body mating flange/linkage boss, and some bungs on the side.

I can't find the link I remember reading it in at the moment, but it was said somewhere that the runners in this base are 7". If someone got creative with how they fabbed up the upper plenum, they might be able to add an inch or so.

LSx= hands folded with fingers facing up
AeroRam= hands folded with fingers facing down
